The Villainy

The Villainy is the name of a rather new band with members from Sweden and The UK. So far they’ve uploaded four songs with grand-sounding pop that has a quite pleasant organic vibe and great vocals. Here are two tunes.

Locals

Here’s a new band from Stockholm, Locals, who’s just released their first single. “Millions of Ghosts” is the name of the song and presents som quite pleasant, catchy indie pop. They write:

Behind a black door in a Stockholm subway station we find the heart of Locals. Concrete and plywood walls meet Portland, sunglasses and the melancholy Swedish cold. The band are the creators behind Stockholm’s new club sound that sounds classic indie meet an electronic dream world.

Case Conrad – “Leikko”

December 4, 2013 at 4:10 pm

Case Conrad

It’s been three years since Case Conrad released the debut album “Dew Point“, which is of course far too long to wait for the next one. Gustav Haggren and co have been touring frequently around the world since then, though, and while touring collected material for the new album “Leikko”, which was released in October. I was really looking forward to hearing new music from the band, and I wasn’t disappointed; it’s quite an enjoyable collection of songs they have created.

I recognise the Americana-sounding pop, but now in a bigger sound costume, softer and even more dreamy. Strings and horns join in on some arrangements and new is also that Gustav sometimes hands over the lead vocals microphone to Per Henrik Adolfsson. A couple months ago we got a sneak preview in the shape of the song “Lonelylightlylowshine“. Here’s two more excellent tracks from the record:

Karin Ström – “Montreal”

Karin Ström

In Spring I told you about Karin Ström’s project with songs about cities that have a special meaning for her. She continued releasing songs from the project this Autumn, the latest one “Montreal”, a warm song about her father and her relation to him. I just had to include the last single also, the beautiful “Stockholm”, which was released in September .

Jipset

Jipset

Jipset is a trio that consists of the the two producers Stefan Kvarnström and Jonas Elofsson, based in Malmö, and the singer Patrik Englund, hailing from Stockholm. They’ve experimented their way through some different styles and landed in this soft, slightly melancholic electro pop. Patrik’s calm vocals fits like hand in glove with this sound and they feel a bit like Adolphsson & Falk for the 2010’s. Here are a couple of songs:
