Momofoko who released their debut album last year, is back with more songs of their own indie-disco flavour. “We Know” is the title song from the two-track single that was released during summer, maybe the best one I’ve heard so far from the band.

A new single is on it’s way within short and they have their aim for a new album release in Spring 2013.

We Know

Here’s a video from Ljus, or Daniel Filipsson which is his real name. You may have seen him before as the singer and guitarist in South Ambulance or as the protagonist in Al, Marc & Sandy.

The duo Jehovas, hailing from Umeå, have released their first single, “Stannar du stannar jag”. It sounds synth pop from the eighties, school dances and leather ties in this song that has sort of sneaked in to my mind and stayed there for some hours now with the chorus line and whistle melody. I asked them why they chose to name the band Jehovas:

We think the name fits. There’s something tickling in the sect-like, sickly ordinary and allmighty in Jehovas. After long internal battles we chose to go official with Jehovas and our favourite colour then became pine, pine wood. Readily then in a form of a wooden panel in a small kitchen in a suburb or a small community, where the disease is propagating like a sect or where the sect is spreading like a disease. In that way Jehovas wants to make electronic welfare state pop.

Stannar du stannar jag

The band Three Green Trees is based in Stockholm and during summer they released four new songs, which will, from what I understand, be featured on an EP later on. They present an uplifting pop with neat melodies, and with quite pleasant vocal harmonies from the two singers, which runs through all songs. I get some vibes from classic pop from the eighties but without the sound from a typical bombastic eigthties production.
