Sadness Theory is a solo project by the singer/songwriter Kattis. A single has been released, “Made of Things”, and an album also seems to be on it’s way. In the song “Made of Things”, which is about materialism and superficiality, I can sense a breath of Tori Amos and Regina Spektor, who are also among the influences Kattis writes about on her site. Tobias Bergbom has changed the name of his solo project Lovers Forgive Me to Förlåt, (Forgive Me) and during summer he also released the first single under the new name: the romantic-nostalgic “Staden river ner våra minnen”.

Hello Confusion is a band that I really like, and I have posted about them a couple of times before. It’s been a couple of years, though, since I’ve heard from them, so it was great to hear from them again and read about what they’re up to next.
First, this song and video, “London”, which they describe well themselves as a disco driven arena song with vibes from the eighties, lush guitars and strong melody. Obviously it was also used in Swedish television during a collage over the winners from the Olympic games.
Furthermore, they tell me that they will release one new song each week from October 15th to Christmas eve. 11 songs all in all. A fun and ambitious idea, that I will try to follow up on.

Min stora sorg is Ann-Sofie Lundin’s solo project, and recently she released her debut EP. I could describe the EP as fragments from a diary in a psalm format, accompanied by a school piano and a choir. It’s naked and liberatingly stripped, and works all the way. Interestingly the songs are not built according to the traditional pop structure with verses , bridges and so on. Instead it’s more like in dance music where the song is growing more and more.
The song and the video below, “Svarta ögon” was released in summer as a first single, and is present on the EP as a so called Live Edit version.

So far I haven’t presented that much dance-beats here on the blog, but something made me stop for the duo Paaniq’s debut EP “Heads In the Ditch”, which was released during summer. Hard to explain, maybe it’s the special atmosphere in the songs, or the good melodies, the dynamics and the variations or the attitude in their dance-pop-electronica. It’s impossible also to resist the line “Chuck Norris is like gravity – don’t fuck with it!” in the song which bears the actor’s name. Listen for yourself on one of the songs here below.
