Sefyr, hailing from Helsingborg, was started as a trio a little more than a year ago. They have now turned into a band with six members with the two singers Anna Bondesson and Felicia Johansson in the frontline. During Autumn they released the single and the video “Ängel vid din sida” (“Angel by your side”), a piece of soft pop sung in the most warm and beautiful Scanian dialect, and right now they are in the studio, recording new songs.
Albin Johansson’s project Pal, which I wrote about a year ago, has developed more into a band than a solo project. To show us how they sound now they recorded a couple of songs at Studio Möllan in Malmö during the Autumn, and filmed the session. You can watch the result here below in two beautiful videos.
It’s been quiet about the band iOktembera couple of years now. In the end of last year, though, they finally released a new collection of songs retaining much of of their characteristic emotional Autumn indie. Here’s the song I liked the best, “This Reflection Bears No Recemblance”.
After a few weeks break it’s time to pick things up where I left them before. I’m online again and looking at a full list of music to present to you. First up is singer/songwriter Karl Fredrik and his new album album “VI”.
Despite the album name this is his second solo album; the first one, “Ingenstans man”, was released in 2011, which I also wrote about here on the blog. The new album follows in the trail of the predecessor with a personal relating pop/rock in Swedish with traces of Swedish ballad traditions and a breath of Bob Dylan. Compared to other Swedish artists in the genre it reminds me most of Peter LeMarc and Tomas Andersson Wij. It’s a more comfortable, smoother and more acoustic sound on these new songs and the album as a whole feels more consistent. I find the best songs in the first track “Muren” and in the strong finish of the album with the two songs “Vridit och vänt” and “Ingenstans man”.
As usual I present some new Christmas songs. And why not the day before Christmas Eve in the middle of all Christmas preparations. Here are greetings from Magnus Bergman, Johan Hedberg and, an older favourite, Pär Edwardson‘s “Let Me In For Christmas”.
