The Mary Onettes

In the beginning of this year The Mary Onettes released the EP “Love Forever” with Dan Lissvik as the producer, and together they are now working on the upcoming album “Hit the Waves”, to be released on tht 12th of March next year. As a first taste of the album they launched this dreamy song with an atmosphere of the eighties, “Evil Coast”, a couple of weeks ago.

Paaniq

In the beginning of the Autumn I wrote about the Stockholm duo Paaniq’s debut EP. As a follow-up they released the single “Never Look Back” in November, an electro pop song with disco-vibes from the eighties where they got help from London-based singer Rhianna Kenny. Listen here:

The Key Key – “Order, Disorder & Chaos”

December 17, 2012 at 7:40 pm

The Key Key

I have a lot of music on my list waiting to be presented here, so I’ll try to gather some speed before the year is over. Next artist calls himself The Key Key, but his real name is  Jakob Stenseke. He’s been working as a musician in quite a different genre, where he wasn’t completely comfortable, so he quit to devote himself to his own music.

The debut album is called “Order, Disorder & Chaos” which he describes as “Synth/guitar/horns-indie pop influenced by everything from Death Cab For Cuties cozy melodies, tougher Arcade Fire heart breaks to LCD Soundsystems’ self insight irony.” A good pop album, with some really catchy tunes which sticks in my mind fast. Sometimes the sound changes a little too much between songs, which makes the album feel like it’s sprawling too much. I’d say it’s an album to enjoy by picking the goodies from it rather than listen from start to end repeatedly.

The single is the first one in a series of four which goes by the name “re:birth”.

Malin Andersson – “Small Town”

December 11, 2012 at 1:39 pm

Malin Andersson

Malin Andersson took her things and left the small town Tibro in Västergötland, heading out into the world. This is also the theme on her EP “Small Town”, which she released earlier this Autumn; four songs with a soft, intimate singer/songwriter-pop with country vibes. Music that seems perfect for a morning when we’re just waking up, with Malin singing so gently so we won’t feel rushed, and with a warmth and eager anticipation that fits well with the start of a new day.
