Mårten Lärka – “Trubadelica”

March 10, 2011 at 1:42 pm

Mårten LärkaMårten Lärka is back with a new release, the three-track EP “Trubadelica”. This time he’s joined forces with Josef Zackrisson and together with Petter Parlour they’ve created a production I really like. It’s minimalistic, the songs are  clearly defined and the drums are in a way the leading instrument. Or you can describe it like Mårten does: “Three songs told by a troubadour with band”.

You’ll find Mårten at his site and the songs are available on Spotify or on Myspace.

The Genuine Fakes – The Striped Album

March 7, 2011 at 2:54 pm

To make an even and great pop album is not easy at all, and after hearing The Genuine Fakes‘ new album it feels like they’ve succeeded in this. It also feels this album could’ve been from the 90’s, which isn’t bad at all. The melodies stick like glue and the singer has a nice tone, and gets a solid backup from a very skilled band with great backup-vocals.

The only negative thing about this record lies in a cover, Beyonce Knowles’ “Irreplaceable”, now revamped. Did the record company force the band to do a cover? The song feels kinda odd and misplaced, which is a shame as the other tracks really stand out.

The artwork for the album is just outstanding if you ask me, and I really like the pictures of the band members. The band has made 2 videos, and you should check out the video for “When Reality Hits You”, the best track on the album!

The album can be listened to here and on Spotify. Listen, enjoy and if you like it you should go and buy the album and support an awesome band and hope for more in the future. In the meantime you can check out their web site here. /Stuff

In These Woods

February 18, 2011 at 5:26 pm

In These WoodsIn These Woods have created a really nice sound on their debut EP, which was released in December. It’s indie rock, 5 songs with big lush guitars, sweeping guitar riffs and good melodies. There’s a great drive in the songs that just sweep me right into the music. A band that will be interesting to follow in the future.

Listen to the EP on Spotify or on Bandcamp. You can follow the band on their  Facebook page or on Myspace.

Shotgun Crackers – New album

February 15, 2011 at 5:50 pm

Shotgun CrackersShotgun Crackers is probably the closest we have ever come to having a house band here on Meadowmusic. They even released an EP on the blog a while ago. Now they are out with their album debut.

And the album gives us 8 tracks of their patented high-energetic, uplifting indie pop. If you’ve listened to them before you will probably recognize four of the songs from before, but now in new versions and with a new production.

Right now they are preparing a big party at Teatern in their hometown Norrtälje where they are playing on the 25th of February.

You can listen to the album on Spotify or on Shotgun Crackers’ Bandcamp page. You can meet the band on their site and on Facebook.
