Nope…we’re not in the biblical stories…and not in heaven…but close…

Cause the song “Come on” from Ctrl the Mob makes me fly like a bird in the sky. And lately their songs have started flying up the charts on various radio stations around the world.
They call themselves “a father & son project”, this trio which consists of John Jerico, Michael Jerico och T.C.

– I’m the creative engine, writing all the lyrics and music, John tells me over the phone from Hälsingland, while Michael delivers, refines and communicates the ideas through his guitar. T.C. is the producer, engineer and sounding board.

Both Delsbostintan and the punk rock band Totalitär have relations to the band, as Delsbostintan is a distant relative to John och Michael, and John was one of the original members in Totalitär. The goal is to make a tour in 2015 where they follow Delsbostintan’s tracks, a tour she made in the US more than hundred years ago.

Last year the band was successful on the music site Snowfish in the contest Next Big Thing and ended up in third place, making it to the finals.

– The biggest win with participating in NBT was on a personal level, meeting all these wonderful people, John continues. It widened our network and has created side projects, collaborations on various levels.

Come On

While waiting for a new album from Emerald Park we can now listen to their new single “Reality Bites”. Two great songs, with a somewhat new sound, where the acoustic guitars play a bigger part and everything feels more direct in a way.

Their great sense of melodies are there as before and with a hint of folk vibes I almost feel like joining the choir as I listen.

Reality Bites

Massive guitars and shoegaze is what hits me as I listen to First Love, Last Rites’ debut album, which was released at the start of this year. And through this big sound trickle smooth melodies and harmonies, resulting in a dreamy feeling. To me, the best track is “I’m Gone”, which you can listen to here below.

I’m Gone

Jonas Schwartz has a special voice. Intense, dramatic, but without overacting. It strikes me that he’s very similar to Fredrik Nilsson in Shotgun Crackers, whose tone and expression are very close to Jonas’.

The music also contains some amount of drama, I note as I go through Jonas’ strong EP trilogy from last year. Some indie, a dose of the sixties, a little bit of Göteborg and then some Weeping Willows. If that makes any sense? Listen for yourself here below in “Dream On” from the EP “Sisyphus”.

Dream On

“Between Two States” is what Kallocain, hailing from Norrköping, has called their debut album. I get a feeling that this could have been one of Radiohead’s side projects that never was released, in the end of the nineties. At the same time I get vibes from the seventies, americana and singer/songwriter. It all blends into a mix where I’m thrown between softer tracks with beautiful acoustic guitars and tracks with dirty indie guitars, all in a common mellow atmosphere.

It’s an even and interesting album, where each song deserves attention, which made it hard to choose two songs you can listen to. The first track “Firecracker” below, is the track that differs most from the other songs on the album, with more pop vibes and synth sounds.
