After a few weeks break it’s time to pick things up where I left them before. I’m online again and looking at a full list of music to present to you. First up is singer/songwriter Karl Fredrik and his new album album “VI”.

Despite the album name this is his second solo album; the first one, “Ingenstans man”, was released in 2011, which I also wrote about here on the blog. The new album follows in the trail of the predecessor with a personal relating pop/rock in Swedish with traces of Swedish ballad traditions and a breath of Bob Dylan. Compared to other Swedish artists in the genre it reminds me most of Peter LeMarc and Tomas Andersson Wij. It’s a more comfortable, smoother and more acoustic sound on these new songs and the album as a whole feels more consistent. I find the best songs in the first track “Muren” and in the strong finish of the album with the two songs “Vridit och vänt” and “Ingenstans man”.

Allt jag vill ha

As usual I present some new Christmas songs. And why not the day before Christmas Eve in the middle of all Christmas preparations. Here are greetings from Magnus Bergman, Johan Hedberg and, an older favourite, Pär Edwardson‘s “Let Me In For Christmas”.

Here’s a new live-video made by Kvalität. It’s the indie band Sonjagon who are playing their new song “Below the Sea”. The band is working with their second album since the debut in 2009. You can listen to a demo studio version of the song below the video.

The band ie at Heart released the EP “We Will Win” during the Autumn. It’s about progressive rock, a rock with a lot of Muse vibes, but more experimental and a sound more aiming at the club than the arena. Listen below to one of the three EP tracks.

We Don’t Belong

I will stay in Malmö with today’s second post. It’s the band Bruce, who recently released their debut ep “Folk kämpar” (“People struggle”), an album which is recorded live from what I understand, and which tastes warm garage rock and punk shot straight from the heart. They say themselves that they’ve been inspired by BRMC, Captain Beefheart and Pascal and also by artists like Tom Waits and Bryan Ferry.
