Hurrricane Love, hailing from Malmö, won the international Emergenza final last year, so there’s no doubt about their qualities as a live band. When it comes to recordings they released an EP during Autumn; four tracks of well produced melodic pop/rock with a rather big, arena-aspiring sound. “Only Human” is the song that I think really stands out of the four, not only on the EP but also in the genre. A quite sticky chorus, to say the least. They have also made some good acoustic living room-versions of a couple of the songs, where you can watch the one with “Only Human” here below.

It’s been a lot of tasting of upcoming albums this month, and today is no exception. It’s about Grande Roses who, after ten year of playing together and four EP:s, are going to release their first full length album, “Disease”. It’ll be out on the third of April, and a couple of days ago they released the first single, “Bullets”, which you can listen to here below.

Since I wrote about the band the last time in 2010, they have had time to sign a contract with EMI, and also to see it be canceled, just two weeks before they were going to enter the studio to record the album. They decided, though, to continue on their own.

The band’s singer and lyrics writer, Göran Messelt Andersson, writes:

I was so damn’ tired of it all. Bitter, Tired. Black. Everything has come to be about money. To create – to destroy. I realised that if there’s money to get, something needs to be sacrificed. If someone brings a contract and wants you to sign it, then there’s almost always a reason not to do it. That’s basically what  “Bullets” is about.

And there’s not doubt about the dark feelings in this song, where they produce a blackness in the vicinity of Sisters of Mercy, with a sound that makes me think of new wave rock from  the eighties, but with a dirty layer on top which still leaves one leg standing in indie rock soil of today. The album title track “Disease” is also available to listen to on their pages, a song that is just as great as “Bullet”.

The rock trio Supralunar offers a song from the upcoming  album debut, which is going to be released soon. And the song “People Like Us” promises a lot if you like great rock’n’roll with a taste of glam rock, the seventies and very sticky choruses. Since last year there’s also the “Unzip to Rock” to listen to.

Soundmeds, hailing fromLinköping, released their debut EP “Hospital” last year. On it they have created their own special brew of alternative and progressive rock, psychadelia, lush guitars and a somewhat suggestive ambience. I can’t find any direct comparisons with other artists as I join their flow when they pass from psychadelia vibes to heavier rock to grand crescendon in songs that are not predictable. And they do it skilfully. Listen below to a couple of songs.

Today we have a song premiere here on the blog. It’s the band Honeymilk who tomorrow will release their new single “This Time Around (The Gods Won’t Save Me)”. It’s their second single after their debut in the Autumn with “It Might Be”, and I think they sparkle even more in this new song where they sound like an indie reincarnation of The Kinks.
