Bernard et Bianca

Here’s an excellent piece of energic and dramatic folk rock from the band Bernard et Bianca , hailing from Göteborg. It’s called “White Mountain Lies” and is taken from their new album with the same name, which was released earlier this year.

Magnus Bergman – “Drömmarnas Allé”

May 22, 2013 at 1:17 pm

Magnus Bergman and Gösta Linderholm

Magnus Bergman has continued during Spring with his ambition to release a new single each month. I think he sounds quite comfortable in his naked, earhty sound which fits like a glove with his voice. The latest song is something as interesting as a duet with Gösta Linderholm. Yes, that Gösta Linderholm who recorded “Rulla in en boll och låt den rulla” which I think every Swede, born in the seventies or earlier, know well. The single is called “Drömmarnas Allé” and is an interpretation in Swedish of the Faces/Rod Stewart song “Gasoline Alley”, which Gösta also recorded in 1983. There’s some bluesy vibes in this song where I’m fascinated by how close their voices sound and note that Gösta is still going strong. You’ll also find Magnus’ March single “Gryningstid” (“Daybreak”) here below.

Anydaynow – “Interstate 22” – video

Anydaynow

Here’s a nice track from the hip hop band Anydaynow, “Interstate 22”. Well hip hop may be the wrong word for it, maybe it’s better to say soul-vibing rock with rap lyrics. They have anyhow created their very own pleasant mix, recorded, they say, in a shower room inside a an old worn building out in the Swedish woods, just a few steps away from the airport. The song is taken from their new EP “The Heartbreak” which was released recently. You’ll also find their debut single from last year here below, “College”.

Nocturnal

Here’s a piece of cool rock from the band Nocturnal who recently released the album with the same name. “One of a Kind” is the name of the song, a blues and jam rock vibing track, which was also part of the first single from the record.

Grande Roses – “Disease”

Grande Roses

In the beginning of the year I presented a taste from Grande Roses’ upcoming album “Disease”. The album was later released during Spring, and with such a excellent collection of  soot-black post rock songs, it would be a sin not to mention it in a post. Not least because of the album’s highlight  “Radio Heartbreak”, which is probably the best rock track I’ve heard so far this year, and which has totally got stuck in my head. Here it is, together with the video.
