Here’s a wonderful piece of electro pop from LCTRISC, “Ticket”, which they released a little more than a month ago. As a bonus we also get the “multifaceted” music video, which possibly could be experienced as a mix of improvisation theatre, The Godfather, Laurel and Hardy and Swedish summer. :) Love it!

So far I haven’t presented that much dance-beats here on the blog, but something made me stop for the duo Paaniq’s debut EP “Heads In the Ditch”, which was released during summer. Hard to explain, maybe it’s the special atmosphere in the songs, or the good melodies, the dynamics and the variations or the attitude in their dance-pop-electronica. It’s impossible also to resist the line “Chuck Norris is like gravity – don’t fuck with it!” in the song which bears the actor’s name. Listen for yourself on one of the songs here below.

SAM is a producer, rapper, songwriter, artist and graphic designer. He’s been producing music since the beginning of the nineties, in different constellations and in his own name, and this summer he released the seven tracks strong album “I Did It, Man”.
The song that I listened to first and caught me was actually the only instrumental song on the album, the irresistable “distGo”, with it’s cool disted trumpetsounding melody. It felt playful and creative, which is also significant for the rest of the album. It has it’s very own mix of electro, dub-step, hooky melody figures and other vibes, backing up a slick rap containing a large dose of satire and tounge-in-cheek. Here’s a song from the upcoming album “The Straw Boys” with electro duo Fort Fairfield, “Danziger Strasse”. A soundtrack to an ordinary day on Danziger Strasse, in Berlin I guess. It obviously feels quite pleasant to walk along that street.

In spring I presented This Vision‘s single “20th Century”. The song was a first taste of the upcoming album “The Golden Age We Lost”, which was also released later in Spring. Compared to their debut album from 2009, quite a few things has happened with their songs and their sound.
We’re still in the eighties’ new wave-scene, with big rooms , analogue synth sounds and melancholy. But there’s more air, it’s warmer and more mature. They have managed to create a romantic, dreamy, retrospective feeling of the eighties, which I think many of us who grew up then recognise. It’s an atmospheric album with a soft tranquility in it which you can sink into and enjoy from the first to the last song without getting tired of .
