Uffe & Leoparden is a hip hop-duo who released their debut album “Genom Filter & Mix” in Spring. They say that the lyrics are more inspired by Thomas Öberg in Bob Hund, rather than by other rappers, and I’m sure it is so even if they on occasion remind me about Timbuktu in the expression and in the melodic rap parts. It sounds really good and varied about the rap and at least as interesting is the music around  it, where they with eight-bit-sounds and dance music influences have created something with a special atmosphere and quite fun to listen to, in a way that I haven’t heard before. It feels playful and unique on this even and creative album. Taste their music with a song here below.

How Will I Know/All That We Had Is Lost

It’s quite rare that I encounter an artist with so little prescence on the net as this Janina Frank. She appears on the new double album”The Ghost of Janina Frank”, which was released this Autumn by the label Bakery Allstars. When I ask the label about info they tell me that Janina is a member of the performance band Miss Mimi & the Mysticals, that she has played in The Meaner and in Incesthora and that she has participated on a number of other artists’ productions.

This is a minimalistic electronica production with, as the album name implies, a ghostly, dreamy, deserted atmosphere. I don’t really get a grip of the whole through the lyrics as I quite miss, i many songs, to be able to read them as I listen. It feels quite unique and personal and there is a shimmer of mystique over it all where I search for the story behind it. Maybe the info in the press release can help somwhat:

What became of Mrs. Frank no one knows,
lost in the woods or captured by foes?
In the mist of night you can hear her songs,
’cause the ghost of Janina Frank lingers on.

It took the band Le Muhr five years to launch a follow-up to the debut album from 2007, “Generation destruktiv”. The EP “Flickorna på klubben” with it’s six tracks was released in the beginning of this year and feels like a kajal painted soundtrack to the big city’s decadent night life, viewed with cynical and ironic eyes. There’s a lot of the eighties in their synth-punk-new wave and the contents would probably have worked just as good back then as it works today.

Lång gata hårt fall

Here’s an interesting single from electro pop duo The Italian String Machine, “Neuromancer”. A lot of eighties’ nostalgia in this one, where I get som vibes from Simple Minds in the early part of the decade.
