It wasn’t long ago that I wrote about the band Norma’s single “Joan”. Now they’ve also released the album where the song belong, “The Invisible Mother”, the band’s second full length record. It took a while before before I could really get a grasp of the album, but after listening through it a few times it has grown quite a bit for me. It’s a diverse album and somewhat hard to place in a distinctive genre, as I hear Kraftwerk influences, grand filmic Vangelis-ambience, catchy pop choruses as well as indie pop vibes from today. It’s all sewn together with a dark, suggestive atmosphere, which runs throuch all the tracks on this special and interesting album.
The electro pop duo Brott och Straff, whom I wrote about in the Autumn, are launching more songs. During 2013 they have the intention of releasing a new song on the 28th every month. Here’s the latest single, “247”, a song about the singer Kim Nilsson’s son Leo.
The cover above is created by the artist Dano Wilhelmsson.
Saturday, Monday follows up on the soul-experimental cool excursion “Headshake” in the Autumn with the the four-track EP “The Ocean”, released today. Listen to the title track here below, where you also this time can hear Julia Spada contributing with her vocals.
Zeonlight is a music company that focuses on cassette releases, a trend that’s clearly growing, although not as strongly as the vinyl revival. They represent quite a few very interesting artists, and have jumpstarted the year with with a number of releases which I thought I’d give you a taste of here below. It’s about the artists Testbild!,Folkmun(upcoming release),Tidlös and Heat and White, and more cassettes is coming up. When it comes to me, I don’t have any cassette players left, if I don’t count the one in the car, but luckily the albums are also available digitally, on Zeonlight’s Bandcamp page.
The duo David Lehnberg and Elin Lindfors in The Deer Tracks are back with the third and last part of their album trilogy in that they released “The Archer Trilogy Pt. 3” a week ago. It’s a very beautiful, snow sparkling journey from minimalistic, magical ambiences to exuberant arena fanfares. Sweet, creative and unmistakably The Deer Tracks. Here are two tracks from the album.
