I wrote about Eddie Wheeler in 2008 here on the blog, and presented some of his music. There were plans of releasing an album in 2009, but what happened instead was that Eddie started a collaboration with musician Henrik Nordahl, aka Hank Wheeler, and the band Wheeler was formed.

Last week they released the debut album “Wheeler”. And it’s an impressive album. They’ve continued to build upon Eddies style with an acoustic, mellow, dark rock, but yet it’s something completely different from what I’ve heard before. Eddie sings his personal lyrics in Swedish and he also sings better than ever before. Or maybe it’s because of the language and it can be felt. Even if you don’t understand Swedish I think you can appreciate it and understand what it’s about.

The sound is largely built upon acoustic guitars and is smoldering beautiful and well produced. It’s partly dark and creates en emotion that acompanies what’s said between the lines, even if we can feel a glimpse of light here and there.

It’s hard to imagine more retro-sixties’-psychadelia vibes than The Orange Revival‘s album “Lord I’m Gonna Shake It”. From the starting sitar-Flower Power-instrumental they get into sixties’-sounding psychadelia rock in various ways, almost like it’s taken from one of the Nuggets-albums, but I also get the feeling that Rolling Stones has been the inspiration in some track and Velvet Underground in others, especially in “She Couldn’t Imagine”.

Moa-Lina Croall, author and former singer in Cargo and Jormahuset, calls herself Croall & Sons as a solo artist. Live she performs solo with a loopstation and a range of instruments, but on the songs here below she’s been joined by members from Jormahuset.

It’s interesting that she presents her songs as remixes of her own earlier productions. And if I listen these older versions the new ones feel like natural upgrades where she pumps in more energy in these excellent pop songs. Especially “And I Stood” caught my interest, a song where the melody and the rest of the music sort of rolls on top the bass figures and the song changes between drama and a light pop feeling without being “quirky”.

I was going to write about Artymoves EP “One of These Days”, which they released earlier this spring. But since then they have also released the single “Love Me”, which has managed to climb lists here and there lately.

“One of These Days” is anyhow a really good EP which caught my attention immediately. Compared to Artymove’s earlier albums I’d say that the soul thermometer has gone up with quite a few degrees in these new songs, into a warm club soul with a really nice, cool electronica background and hooky frases which put themselves like a sweet bell pepper on a cheese sandwhich making it perfect.

The True is a duo from Malmö consisting of Christian Hagman och Jonas Hofvander. So far they’ve released four songs and here below you can listen to “Monster”. It’s beautiful, naked and warm and with great vocals from Christian Hagman.
