I wrote about Grenades For The Wall earlier this summer and can now tell you that they have released their debut EP, “7”. A couple of the songs I described in my post are part of the EP and the other songs, with their soulvibing electropop, won’t make you disappointed if you liked the band before.

Besides an edition of the songs from the band’s early years (under the name Silverslut), it’s been quiet around The Search since 2008, at least when it comes to recordings. Now, finally, they have released the album “The Search For Connection, Contact and Community”, which was released September 30th.
Already in the first tones in the first song “Silent Days” they set the ambience for the entire album. I’m enshrouded in an Autumn-like, dreamy, slightly mellow atmosphere, an atmosphere that goes hand in hand with the lyrics, which are well summarized in the album title.
The Search is really not a refrain band, in the meaning that you won’t go around humming grandiose refrain hooks afterwards. The songs are more ambient, thoughtful creations, which doesn’t stop them from being full of beautiful melodies and nice passages where the songs allow to blossom. My favourites here are “An Ounce of Courage” and “Age of the Hermit”. One exception is “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter”, a song in a faster pace and with a more obvious refrain, which you can listen to here below.

Sanna Hallgren is working on her debut album “Beat”, which is scheduled for release in January. As a first taste she released the single “Dance” a little while ago, and recently another song, “Beat”.
It’s two disco inspired electro pop songs with some indie feeling to them. Normally I don’t listen too much to music like this, but I was immediately caught by Sanna’s voice, which is really something. It radiates warmth and soul vibes and a voice that certainly stands out.

side effects have recently released their EP “Feel Flows”. It’s an EP inspired by bands like The Who, Pink Floyd and Love but also from contemporary acts like The Soundtrack of Our Lives and Trummor & Orgel.
It’s a really good EP, where they manage to create their own sound with songs rooted in their psychadelia influences, and which grow into grand and powerful creations.

Some weeks ago I presented Gustav Nilsson and his single “Down, Down, Down”. Now the EP, where the song belongs, is ready, “Makeup On, Letdowns Off”.
Accompanied by another 5 songs, my impression of the sixties I got from “Down, Down, Down” is turned into a sensation of happy seventies’ rock, full of of sing-a-long melodies and nice guitar figures. And with Gustav’s sand paperish voice the sound gets just the right harshness to make it feel alive and genuine.
Gustav himself had a somewhat different description:
…on this album I pictured it to sound like if Julian Casablancas (anno 2002) and Courtney Love (anno 1998) really meet in a bath room and are threatened to be shot by Phil Spector if they don’t quickly write some songs together.
