Nicky – “Wake Up”

November 25, 2014 at 5:48 pm

Nicky is a young singer/songwriter hailing from Öxelösund and is only 19 years old, which is hard to believe when you hear his deep voice in the song “Wake up”. Even more interesting is the fact that it was the first song he ever wrote when he was just fifteen years old. The song has quite a dose of charm and I’m not surprised that many seem to have discoveried this already.

Edit: It appeared afterwards that young Nicky had not written this song at all, as he had claimed. Instead it was a cover of the song “Fake Love” by Michael Stec. Nicky’s version of the song has apparently been withdrawn from all digital outlets.

Billy Momo – “I’ve Got You”

November 20, 2014 at 3:42 pm

Billy Momo

Last week the band Billy Momo released their new single “I’ve Got You”, which is also an announcement of their upcoming album “Drunktalk”. It’s a laidback pop song with a great drive and a pleasant ambience with an air of longing and excitement, a song that sucks you in and seems to be made for running on repeat. Billy Momo was started in 2007 by the duo Tomas Juto and Oskar Hovell, two musicians who have worked before with bands like PH3, Eskobar, Neneh Cherrys Cirkus among others, but on stage the band grows to seven members. They have earlier released the album “Ordinary Men”.
On the 26th of November they are inviting us to the release gig at Debaser Strand/Bar Brooklyn in Stockholm.

Maymouth – “For the Rush”

Maymouth

About a year ago the indie rock band Sonjagon split up. But for those that miss the band there is new hope, as two of the members, Jacob Stenberg och Hugo Johansson, have started a new project called Maymouth. Recently they released the first single, “For the Rush”, a single which certainly makes me want to hear more from them.
I should add that the third member, Jacob Douglas, released a solo album last year which I hope I can get back to later on.
