The duo The Loveable Tulips consists of Pia Påltoft and Pernilla Axerup. They have started a collaboration with the  producer Jari Haapalainen and together they have forged a grand sound with choirs and tempting pop melodies as a foundation.

If I would try to describe it I’d say that it feels like a mix of Bananarama, ABBA and Phil Spector with a small dose of Enya. Listen for yourself in a couple of tracks here below.

The 26th of November Lena Malmborg will release her third album, “Paris to Berlin”, produced by Mats Björke (Mando Diao).

If the earlier albums felt country-inspired and soul- and blues-inspired respectively, this album is moving more in a pop direction, with some eighties vibes in some songs. She says that she also took some time to listen to gospel before the recordings, which can be felt sometimes.

Guests on the album are Carl Norén (Sugarplum Fairy) and Elin Sigvardson.

Don’t Be Scared

That I would enjoy listening to dubstep and drum’n’bass, I wouldn’t have believed a while ago. Not that I dislike these genres in any way, it’s just that my music radar has led me in other directions and that I’ve never really entered this type of music in an interesting way.

But I think that the duo Modual has dragged me into this area somehow now, by blending beautiful pop melodies and a nice jazz-harmonic feeling with the beats. The result is a wonderful, laidback music, soothing and slightly melancholic, with interesting productions.

In September they released the EP “Infinity” and you can listen to this EP, and a former one, on Bandcamp and on Modual’s Soundcloud page. You can also connect with them on Facebook.

It’s been a while since I heard from Gocart System, ever since they released their first EP here on Meadowmusic. Thankfully they are back with a new one, called “Across the Nation”.

And yes, it’s the same crazy playfulness, jump between genres and with contagious songs. Here’s one that could be a modern lo-fi version of early Velvet Underground, another a disco flirt, and, well, you tell me. I recognize the music, but at the same time I don’t.

I wrote about Loud as Light in February, but then the band called themselves The Idle Hands. They made a couple of changes in the lineup and discovered also that there were another band with the same name out on the music sites, and hence changed their name.

The first release under the new name is the single “There’s a Clock”.
