Ms. Henrik – “Like Lovers Do”

October 4, 2016 at 5:38 pm

Ms. Henrik

Ms. Henrik is preparing us for the release of his first full length album, “Fake and Copy”, which seems to be coming up within short. The appetizer comes in the shape of the single “Like Lovers Do”, a dance-inspiring discopop pearl with an efficiently sticky chorus which makes us sing along already from the start. That there are 90’s vibes in the song becomes even more obvious in the cool music video which starts with a fictional clip from the Swedish 90’s music video TV-show Voxpop hosted by Henrik Olsson. The two Henrik join together and hit off on a nightly roadtrip ending with some kind of heist. It’s funny also that the music video played inside this music video is also available as a combined music/lyrics video.

Moodblanc – “Good Things In Life”

The duo Moodblanc have released the single “Good Things In Life” and the album “Faith” at the same time. The album contains all the chapters in the story with their series of singles. They write that the story started in St Tropez and ends in Rome. Is this maybe the last part of the tale?

Tomorrow on Saturday Sofia Thelin celebrates the release of her third album “Kärlekssång till alla bortgömda trosor” at Victoriateatern in Malmö. As a first taste she has released a video to one of the tracks, “Det är en cirkus alltihop”. It’s a warm and intimate chanson-inspired cabaret pop song which she owns with her personality. The video is created by Mohave Media.

Vårum – “Disco Damaged” EP

October 9, 2015 at 1:06 pm

Vårum

A couple of weeks ago Vårum released the debut single “Scream”, a piece of cool, laidback disco-inviting electropop which wet the appetite for more. Today he’s releasing the debut EP “Disco Damaged” with another 4 tracks to enjoy. Behind Vårum we find Bjørn Thomassen, born and raised on Lofoten in Norway, but nowadays living in London. The inspiration comes from the cold desolated nights in the big city, he writes, but you can just as well imagine sparkling ice flakes and a vast, mighty sea when you hear the music. He’s not only aiming for the dancefloor here, he wants us to take a pause and just listen as well on a varying and quite dynamic album. I can sense some nostalgic vibes from older synthpop and some hints of Alan Parsons Project also, but there’s no doubt that the songs belong on the electronica scene of today and should be fit to fill some floors in London clubs in the time to come.

Manganas Garden – “Slow It Down”

April 9, 2015 at 5:32 pm

Manganas Garden

How about som wonderful, tight, groovy funk from Göteborg? The band Manganas Garden has just opened the door a little to their new album “Solar Satisfaction” with the song “Slow It Down”. An inspired track with many ingredients from classic disco-funk from the seventies, ending with a great saxophone solo.
