Case Conrad – “Dew Point”

December 17, 2010 at 3:52 pm

Case ConradEarlier we have seen Gustav Haggren in the band Gustav and the Seasick Sailors. Last year the band splitup, but luckily for us, Gustav has startet a new band, Case Conrad.

The debut album, “Dew Point”, which was recorded live in only two days, was released in October. Compare to the seasick sailors, this music has a different feeling, more dreamy, reflective, a little more mellow. And Gustavs voice is more sensitive and heartfelt than ever.

In November Gustav Haggren and the band’s guitar player Robert Johnson went to the US, with an ambition to tour across the continent during 4 months. You can follow the tour on their blog or on Twitter.

Case Conrad also has a Myspace page.

The Resonance – “Introspection”

December 14, 2010 at 10:38 pm

The Resonance is a new name but not a new band, formerly known as Tvivelfront and MeadowMusic wrote about their EP in May, but from another author so this is new to me. And now they’re releasing a whole album including the songs from the EP. The opening track starts off with an awesome sounding guitar and the singer sounds a little like the dude in Depeche Mode. The song is just nice and it has a strong chorus with a solid sounding band.

The first and the second song is both strong but then it tends to even out a bit I’m afraid, but bare in mind that this is their first LP and I think this band has great potential to grow. I’m really looking forward to hear more from these guys indeed.

Pär who wrote about them the last time, described them as an early The Cure but with a little Broder Daniel in it and I think I agree with him there.

Check out The Resonance’ homepage or listen to them on Spotify

Shotgun LanguageShotgun Language, aka Gustav Berry, is back with a new release, the EP “Mileage”. It’s about the special, alternative country and fifties’ rock we have heard some of before. This time with a more consistent album with 5 good songs.

A Swarm of the Sun – “Zenith”

September 21, 2010 at 4:21 pm

A Swarm of the SunThe duo A Swarm of the Sun, Erik Nilsson and Jakob Berglund, released their debut album “Zenith” the 30th of August. Influenced by bands like Mogwai, M83, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Logh and Cult of Luna, they paint a dark, suggestive and beautiful sound landscape.

I can’t help thinking about Pink Floyd as they build up the songs from low-voiced melodies and feelings up to grand, powerful sceneries. A real album with ideas behind it and an interesting journey from the beginning to the end.

You can find A Swarm of the Sun on their site, on Facebook or on Myspace. “Zenith” is also available on Spotify.

The Faux Noise – “We All Know That Someday We Will Die”

June 19, 2010 at 3:19 am

I got a mail from The Faux Noise that they had produced a new song, “We All Know That Someday We Will Die”. Apparently it’s a cover of a song from a Taiwanese band called Come On! BayBay!. It’s hard to find any pages about them but a Google search showed me a nice pop/singer-songwriter band on Youtube.

But in the hands of The Faux Noise it becomes something completely different. This time a 7 minutes somewhat epic work in the same ambience as before. Fantasy stimulating, dynamic and grand. I can imagine a large conceptual work from these guys in the future, where they really make a journey, or whatetever they will come up with next.
