The rock band Killerball had a somewhat intense festival Summer where they performed at both the new Bråvallafestivalen as well as at Hultsfredsfestivalen among others, but now they seem to be busy in the songwriting chamber for the rest of the year. Meanwhile we can enjoy their latest single “Hype”, with the music video they released some months ago.
I wrote about the etablishment-kicking and normcritic band Könsförrädare earlier this year when they released their first single “Death to Stories“. About a month ago they released the debut album “Curse All Law” produced by Mattias Alkberg, a nicely messy, confronting and varied album that offers smooth melodic choruses as well as noisy, irregular indie rock in the spirit of Sonic Youth.
Earlier this year The Australian band Alex Watts & The Foreign Tongue announced a remix competition for their single “Warned”. The winner was the Swedish producer Lars Rosenblad with his interesting remix which takes the song to an entirely different place, with verses that breathes of Bowie in the ambience and which cracks up in an almost power ballad-sounding chorus. Quite far away from the orginial with it’s Crowded House-vibing arrangement. Listen here below to both versions.
Mankind, hailing from Stockholm, has released this garage-vibing single and video “Blood, Sugar”. Interestingly the song is produced by Gordon Raphael, mostly known for his productions of The Strokes early albums. It’s a great video too, made by Johan Stolpe, which you can see here below. The band has earlier released the EP “New Bag”, which certainly also is worth a listen, also with a garage sound but with a more sixties vibe to them, like if they were fetched from one of the “Nuggets from the psychadelic era”-albums. I’d love to hear a debut album from this interesting band, which they’ve spoken about before, but I haven’t seen any schedule for it yet.
This Is Head also released a single in Summer, from their second album, “The Album ID“. It’s one of my album favourites together with two remixes by El Perro Del Mar and Prince Rama that made it to the single. Here are two of the tracks together with a music video made by Maciej Kalymon.
