Here’s the debut single from The Perfect Mess, hailing from Skövde, a band that consists of Niklas Bohm and Mikko Viitala. The song “There Is Still Time”, a handsome pop track which they build up to arena proportions, is also the first taste of their upcoming debut EP.

New single from the band Georgia Barbershop, “Blast Oyster”. The last time we met them they appeared like the punk cousins to the bands from “Nuggets From the Psychadelic Era”, who someone had secretly recorded while they were rehearsing in a shed. Now they have moved from the shed to a furnished garage and installed more modern recording equipment. But it’s still rock’n’roll and energy, and they sound a bit like an early New Wave-band  with some britpop attitude. A new album is coming up within short.

Here’s the second single from Rideau, “Ecstasy”, a song where they pick up the speed and seem to have pushed all the sweaty rock energy they’ve got into the track. It’s frenetic rock with a stroke of metal and hardcore but they have their own path just outside these genres. They even surprise with a brilliant saxophone solo! in the middle of the song. Hopfully we get to hear an album from the band soon.

The band Xanima, hailing from Stockholm, released their second album earlier this year: “Prototype: Homo Sapiens”. Partly they describe their music as progressive rock and artrock, which also feels like the foundation of their music, but is a long way from describing what it’s about. Here’s a darkness and mystique, almost like it was fetched from goth rock and to some extent new wave, and, particularly, a great deal of grand drama channeled through the charismatic singer Jade Ell. It’s a powerful album with thirteen tracks that serves us almost an hour of music, and it’s one of those albums that grow as you more and more get into their special atmosphere.

Punkish garage rock or garage-sounding punk. Whatever you call it The Dahmers, hailing from Bromölla, serves us a fantastic rock’n’roll riot on their album “Demons” which makes me turn up the volume some more notches and be carried away. A great album I didn’t know I really needed until I started to listen.
