Lindblom & Lindblom

A couple of weeks ago we got a taste of the duo Lindblom & Lindblom’s new album, which will be released officially in a week on December 8th. We can listen to the 8 tracks from the album “Sturm und Drang” already today, though, and on their Bandcamp page there’s also a limited cassette version available, with a live recording on the b-side. Help yourself to some great instrumental noise rock:

The Grand Minnows – “Diamond Man”

November 27, 2014 at 1:59 pm

The Grand Minnows

The Grand Minnows, who I wrote about earlier this year, have released a new EP, “Diamond Man”, with three songs. They write that they wanted to create a stronger rock vibe to the sound with more speed but still easy to listen to. And I think they’ve succeeded quite well with that. The guitars are rawer, it feels more straight on with more energy and they are moving more and more into post grunge, still expressing their great sense of catchy melodies. If you’re in Kalmar (Sweden) on Saturday 29/11 you can see them play live at Witten right before Truckfighters.

Dalaplan – “Plikt och elände”

November 25, 2014 at 5:06 pm

Dalaplan

Many artists trim and polish their sound to the second album with more advanced productions. Not Dalaplan, though, on their follow-up album “Plikt och elände”. They have roughed it up a bit instead and have achieved something that is now closer to a spontaneous live energy in the eleven songs. The songs and the album are overall more dynamic also which makes the album feel more like a whole than the debut. It’s still about a wonderful energetic garage rock, but darker, both in the harmonies and in the lyrics, which ultimately feels rather liberating. It’s rock’n’roll, right? Also, Dalaplan wouldn’t be Dalaplan without the melodies, the singalong phrases and the short choruses which stick in your head immediately. And sure, they are indeed there, listen for yourself:

Lindblom & Lindblom

The band Lindblom & Lindblom describe their music as instrumental noise rock. The two brothers Robert and Rickard, who earlier played in the bands Hundhuvudet and Traktor respectively, are now working on the debut album “Sturm & Drang” and also a 90 minutes long 2-track cassette single. As a taste of what’s coming up, they have released the two title tracks from the album:

Natalie Roots – “Kardia One” – EP

November 17, 2014 at 1:30 pm

Natalie Roots

The three members from the band Same Old Story have made a kind of reboot and resurfaced as the new band Natalie Roots. The foundation is still American punk rock, but it feels like they’ve had an energy injection and that they are ready to go carve out their very own path now, which can be heard in the furious starting track “Kommer vi behöva leva på det här” on their debut EP “Kardia One”. Four songs in English follow, containing the best and most inspired stuff I’ve heard so far from the trio.
