Storbritannien – “Krita”

January 20, 2011 at 10:00 am

StorbritannienThe sound from the early eighties’ electronica and new wave echoes very clearly from the trio Storbritannien’s debut EP “Krita”. In spite of the old references it feels quite fresh and in a way authentic, like if they were some kind of darker predecessor to Lustans Lakejer.

The EP cointains four good songs all with a little different character, in Swedish, but if we’re talking about hit potential they have created a great hook in the chorus of “Säg det högt”.

Apparently new songs are coming up, as they have recently finished the recording of a new EP. If you’d like to keep track of this and listen to all the songs on “Krita”, you can find Storbritannien on Myspace.

Valutan – new single

January 10, 2011 at 1:28 pm

Valutan

We wrote about the electronica duo Valutan when they released their debut album “Blame the Voters”, a couple of years ago. They followed this with a vinyl release and then the album “Terror”.

Now they have announced that they are shutting down the band and in November they released their last single, which you can listen to below. The reasons for quitting is said to be due to both bizarre and concrete reasons, whatever that means, but at the same time I can note some openings which make me me hope that they will continue after all.

You can still find Valutan on Myspace.

Christmas special – “Let Me In For Christmas”

December 20, 2010 at 5:46 pm

Christmas musicIt’s time to spread som Christmas ambience here on  Meadowmusic. We wish you all a most pleasant Christmas.

If you’d like to explore earlier Christmas gifts here on Meadowmusic, you can find the songs from 2009 here and the ones from 2008 here.

First up is a wonderful collaboration between Pär Edwardson (composer and the performer of the song), Johan Strömberg (composer) and Tobbe Möller (lyrics):
Let Me In For Christmas

Next it’s time for a Christmas boogie with BFM. Armed with their recent debut album they have followed this up with a Christmas Single:
Rock Around The Xmas Tree

Art Acoustic, which we presented during Autumn, invites us to celebrate Christmas in the woods:
X-Mas In the Woods

Finally we slow it down a little and go for some Christmas ambience with ad dios. The band (which recently released the album Avalon Revisited) has a tradition of interpreting an old English Christmas carol every year, and this year they have also crossed the channel and invites us to some French Christmas ambience:
Il est né le Divin Enfant

Merry Christmas!

Llojd

November 25, 2010 at 1:11 pm

The duo Llojd was a pleasant new acquaintance. Their slightly melancholic tone, the dreamy and melodic songs bear a nice tranquility. It’s electronica but also indie pop, with vocals that remind of the some of Joakim Berg in Kent.

Like myself they come originally from Kalmar and have also left the town for new adventures. Maybe they also have stood and viewed a foggy Kalmar Sund with a feeling of connection with the beautiful coast and surroundings but at the same time with an urge inside to leave, away from something that felt like an end station to something new and exciting.

On Llojd’s Soundcloud page you’ll find a number of songs to listen to and download. They’re also present on Myspace and with an EP on Spotify.

Posttod

November 12, 2010 at 6:18 pm

PosttodToday it’s electronica with some pop intentions with the Swedish-Spanish duo Posttod.

I don’t know that much about them aside from that they produce a quite a spectra of laidback, mainly instrumental electronica. You can listen to one of their latest tracks here below, “Dead In the Universe”.

There is a video to the song also, but it’s in fact an outtake from a short movie by Spike Jonze, “I’m Here”. You can judge for yourself if you like the original soundtrack the best or Posttod’s version.

Listen to more songs on Posttod’s Soundcloud page. You’ll also find them on Myspace.
