Siena Root have released a video to their song “Root Rock Pioneers” this week. As the title implies it’s about root rock, and not just any root rock, but a dazzling one that makes me think of the bluesy hard rock from the early seventies. Deep Purple is a comparison that easily comes to mind, especially because of the brilliant interaction between the lead guitar and the hammond, and also because of the wonderful, dynamic retro-sound which blows any modern, over-compressed rock track off the road. Here’s a new interesting acqaintance in the shape of the band Brothers Among Wera. On the 16th of February they are releasing the single “Mammoth” and right after that, their first full length album. They want to attract our attention with these beautiful harmonies in the song “All That We Don’t Have” from a live recording, but I’d like to add the brilliant single “Silence” from the Autumn as well, with its lovely mix of pop, Americana and nice 70’s-sounding bluesrock escapades. Rocket Brother consists of the two brothers Jonatan and Simon, who have been working together in this project since 2013. They have earlier released the EP “Gravity” and the single “Someone Like You”, and are now working on their second EP. First out from this EP is the track “Hold On “, a song about escaping problems told by vocoder-tinged vocals backed by sweeping synth arpeggios. Sweet!
Here’s a new single with Sirena, “Lunar Lights”; a pretty pop track, electro driven an percussion heavy. It’s described as being positioned somewhere between Tove Lo and Seinabo Sey, which seems like a good comparison to me.
The band Navelin, hailing from Göteborg, whom I wrote about a year ago, are back with some beautiful, shimmering, grand pop on the new single and video “Shake It Off”. A new EP is coming up at the of February.
