New electropop single from the duo Eternal Death, Elin Berlin and Johan Angergård. It’s called “Violence”, a piece of shimmering, a bit suggestive, grand-sounding synthpop and another example of Johan Angergårds ability to create pop melodies that immediately stick in your head. The song is taken from the debut album “Eternal Death”, to be released on the 23rd of February.
The folk/psych duo Siri Karlsson, Cecilia Österholm and Maria Arnqvist, are on their way with their third album “The Lost Colony”, to be released on th 25th of February. The last song on the album is called “Långt där ute”, which they present today in the shape of a music video directed by David Giese. It’s a journey which starts out calmly, yet somewhat disturbing, but which grows into a powerful folk epic searching for The Lost Colony, tinged by mystique and old folk magic.
The psychadelia band Holy, whom I wrote about in the Autumn, have just released the single “Demon’s Hand”, lead single from their debut album “Stabs” (release March 11th). While you’re waiting for the full length debut you can also listen to their EP “Silver of Your Heart” from December. You’ll find the title track below.
Last week Linn Öberg released the single “Freediver” as a first taste of her debut album “When You Go”, scheduled for release February 18th. I get the same Spring-like feeling of freedom from this song as I got from her song “Vacant Days” last year. She has found a room which fits her expression perfectly, a rather big room which allows a lot of experimentation in the arrangements. It will be interesting to listen to an entire album from Linn.
Baron Bane is finally back with new recordings. First up is the single “By the Waves” and the aim is a new album later this year. It’s a fascintating song where ominous, pulsating synths meet beautiful piano and song melodies, frenzy meet tranquility like if there was a battle between the two. In the end it becomes rather dramatic and grand-sounding, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a film somewhere looking for a soundtrack just like this.
