Vånna Inget – “Allvar”

Vånna Inget

Vånna Inget, hailing from Malmö, recently released their debut album “Allvar”. It’s punk in Swedish full of nice melodies and good songwriting. It’s anxiety, melancholy and lyrics that without diversions hit you in the stomach.

The production is simple and unpolished, which is not uncommon when it comes to punk rock, but I think that they have really succeeded here. There’s space and air enough to pour out as much energy as they like, while it feels just as much as real punk music and authentic as it should.

I also like that there’s quite some variation on the album, where they move from calmer pop-influenced songs to energic outbursts. A brilliant debut album with a singer in Karolina Engdahl that stands out.

Listen more on Spotify, Wimp or Soundcloud. You can find Vånna Inget on Facebook or on  their site. Here are a couple of songs:

The Volcano

The VolcanoThe Volcano, hailing from Göteborg, has recently released their first self-titled EP. Three songs of somewhat different character, but it feels punk, live and like a real nice gust of fresh air. I imagine that it would be great to see this trio live, which is confirmed when I look at one of the live clips on their Facebook page.

You can listen to the EP on their Bandcamp page.

Quit Your Dayjob – “Word Domination”

June 8, 2011 at 5:06 pm

Quit Your DayjobIf your longing for bands like Ramones and Dead Kennedys, that could play through their entire discography within a very short span of time, you’ve come to the right place.  Quit Your Dayjob’s new album “Word Domination” contains 16 songs which they get through in about 24 minutes.

It’s their third album since they started out in Malmö in 2000, and the first one in four years. And punk it is, but also Devo-inspired synths and provoking humour plus some metal and a bunch of surf guitars.

It’s direct, different, playful and with lyrics that the audience certainly will learn directly at the gig and sing-a-long to. An album that you can’t be indifferent to. You can find Quit Your Dayjob on Facebook and you can listen to the album on  Spotify.

Same Old Story – “A Great Disgrace”

Same Old StoryTwo years ago I wrote about Same Old Story after the release of their debut EP “Waste of Time”. Now it’s about their first full length album “A Great Disgrace”, which they released last month.

They continue on their skate punk road, but now it’s a little heavier, more punk attitude and a better sound. You can listen to the album on Spotify and there are also some tracks on their Facebook page. You can find their site here. Here’s “Study Your Bible Belt” from the new album:

Riddarna

RiddarnaThe first time I listened to Riddarna, it felt like I was run over by a steamroller. I wasn’t really prepared for the furious rock energy that poured out of my speakers. But after I got up again and recovered it felt liberating to listen to this garage-stoner-rock in Swedish. Rock that also radiates classic punk rock in the energy, frustration and sweat.

Riddarna has recently released their debut album which is available  on Spotify and you can also listen some more at their site. You can find them on Facebook too. Here are a couple of tracks:
