Mattias Oskarsson started his solo project Monorail for real in 2004, with the live debut the year after. In 2011 he released his debut album “Bedroom Recordings” and he’s now working on a follow-up song collection. As a taste of this, he has realesed the single “Here Comes the Drone”, a pop song with a certain hint of  jazz and folk which makes me think of Patrick Rydman, whom I’ve written about here before.

This Is Head released their second album “The Album ID” in March. It’s great fun to listen through this album, an album free from conventions and predictability. I haven’t listened that much to their acclaimed debut album from 2010, so I won’t go into any comparisons. It’s in any case hard to define their music more than giving some hints like for example U2 meets David Bowie meets post rock meets indie experimentation; it varies from song to song and a great deal of my joy with the album is the journey in itself, to become surprised, notice details, and enjoy smooth melodies and cool turnarounds. Here’s a few tracks to taste, but I recommend listening from start to finish.

[SEK], Sophia Ersson’s solo project in Swedish, released in March the follow-up to the debut EP “Bergen” (“The Mountains”), which I wrote about before. The EP is called “[FALL]” and continues where the first EP left us:

We’ve all built our mountains and we’ve all [FALL]en down from them. We climb the mountains and we jump our [FALL]s, without jumping, no [FALL].

The electro duo Me The Tiger was formed a year ago by Gabriella Åström and Tobias Andersson, and earlier this year they released their debut album “Me The Tiger”. Everything was written and produced in Tobias’ kitchen and Gabriella’s sewing room, but the music doesn’t carry any traces of the small rooms but leaves for the large spaces with a dense, melodic electro pop, with heavy synth sounds and a nice collection of catchy choruses. Listen for yourself here below in a couple of tracks.

The singer and actress Anna Sise has appeared in a number of productions on TV, in movies and on the theatre. As a singer she is mostly known as a jazz vocalist; she’s been touring and have also released a couple of albums, among them “Beppes Byrålåda”, an album with Beppe Wolgers-interpretations. Recently she released the single “I vårt kvarter”, a song breathing of Motown-inspired Swedish pop from the sixties, which fits like hand in glove with her jazz-soul-vibing special voice.
