SoLBLoMMa – “(Come Count The) Sheep (With Me)”

SoLBLoMMa

Here’s SoLBLoMMa‘s new single “(Come Count The) Sheep (With Me)”, an electro pop track with a breath of the eighties. It’s a her first single under her own name, and if the music sounds familiar, you may have heard her earlier productions under the name kiN. Sara Solblomma is an odd and individualistic artist, not only through her almost Minnie Mouse-vibing vocals, but also through the message and her variegated career, which started with the album debut in 1997 and then continued through a row of various projects, musical experiments and collaborations. A new single is coming up during Autumn. Here is “(Come Count The) Sheep (With Me)”:

Chocolate Barry – “I Cry Because of You Argentina”

August 26, 2013 at 2:26 pm

Chocolate Barry

Today I’m starting with a reissue of music originally released in 2001. It’s about the trio Chocolate Barry, whose album “Cucumber Trees and Ice Cold Lemonade” now is available for streaming and downloading. The band, hailing from Malmö, consisted of the two brothers John and Chocolate Barry and also Marco Manieri. The contagious song “I Cry Because of You Argentina”, here below, was played quite a bit back then, but isn’t entirely representative for the album, which is a unique blend of sixties’ nostalgia, electronica, disco, pop and psychadelia with both vocal and instrumental tracks. I could imagine this as a movie soundtrack; maybe then a movie about Chocolate Barry himself.

Kids On the Run – “Lies Beyond”

Kids On the Run

Here’s a fine song from the band Kids On the Run, “Lies Beyond”; a song with vibes from folk pop, indie and Beach Boys harmonies. The band hails from Uppsala and has earlier released the EP “Restless Fields”, which is also definitely worth a listen.

Seger – “The Stages of Love”

Seger

Maria Bergström calls herself Seger as a solo artist. It’s often about singer/writer pop with feelgood-vibes, where she, with an acoustic guitar, creates songs with lots of influences from jazz standards. In Spring she released the excellent single “The Stages of Love” with two songs you can listen to here below.

So Many Details

So Many Details

So Many Details is a new young band hailing from Stockholm. They started out a little more than a year ago and have so far produced two tracks which they have uploaded on Soundcloud. And it’s quite a treat they serve us; indie pop with a pleasant ambience, some funk, a dose of The Killers, some eighties and a great voice from singer Vidar Drakenberg.
