Now I get to use the word irresistable again, because that’s what I think that The Bland Band’s music is. So much that it’s impossible to sit still when I listen to their folk pop witch has a wonderful swing to it and beautiful melodies. Listen to “Bigger Than Your Hometown” here below, and you’ll know what I mean.

It’s easy to guess that The Band is a big inspiration, and that was also the origin of their band name as they made a little fun of their predecessors name (blandband = mixtape), even before they were a band. Later when they understood what their name meant in English, the name had already set itself among them and they continued to proudly stick with it.

The four members met when they were traveling, playing music out in the streets. They decided to move together and continue to create music together, and this has now resulted in their debut EP. The track below is the first song on the EP.

Bigger Than Your Hometown

In the infancy of this blog in 2008 I wrote about Victoria Lagerström’s debut album “Heaven Sent”. Now she’s released her second solo album “Dancing With the Sun”, an album where I recognise her from before, but it feels even lighter and softer than before. It’s really soft soft singer/songwriter-pop with lots of soul vibes and beautiful melodies, often accompanied by pleasant guitars and a gentle piano. Listen for yourself in two songs here below.

Silent River 

Sveket, which I presented in August, continue their journey through Swedish nostalgic and melancholic pop from the sixties. They follow up on their debut with a beautiful and sorrowful piano ballad on the new single “Din frusna hand” (“Your frozen hand”). Yesterday they also presented a video for the debut single, with, among others, the actor Göran Ragnerstam in one of the roles.

It’s been four years since Sara Rumar released her last album. Now she’s underway with a new one, “We Are the Quiet Revolution”, which will be available in October. As a first taste she’s released the single “Sucker For a Bleeding Heart”, a catchy pop tune which promises a lot for the new album. Listen here below.

Here’s a new single from Fibes Oh Fibes, “Cerathonia”, that fell into my inbox tonight. The song is a reworked version of the same song on the band’s fourth album “Album”. Great pop song with sing-a-long qualities. The song will be officially released next week and is produced  and cowritten by Pontus Winnberg (Miike Snow, Bloodshy mm).
