Luna Green

Here’s a pearl for a song from Luna Green. It’s an entirely new version of the song “Sussh” from her album “Swedish Strawberries”. She recorded it in Havanna with Cuban musicians, presumably when she was there to perform at “Peace and Love Festival” earlier this year. The song stood out on the album with a different arrangement, but here it really blossoms in a down-scaled R’n’B-sound á la the early sixties. Luna feels completely natural here with her somwhat restrained expression and it becomes pure magic.

New pop singles from Nova Becc, Luna Green, LCTRISC, Flod and CMBSTN

LCTRISC

LCTRISC

Nova Becc – “Faller ner”

Rebecca Petersson has been working a number of years as a singer and as a songwriter, but it’s not until now as she makes her debut as as soloartist. Nova Becc is her artist name on the new single “Faller ner” (“Falling Down”), a catchy pop track where her vocals impress me; she knows exactly what she’s doing and her voice reminds me of a young Marie Fredriksson.

Luna Green – “Black Magic”

Luna Green is releasing a new single from the latest album “Swedish Strawberries”. The 70’s-pop-inspired song “Black Magic” is written together with Niklas Frisk, who’s also participating on the recording.

LCTRISC – “The Fire In the Distant Future”

Here’s a colourful music video from LCTRISC, “The Fire In the Distant Future”. In the video the duo have been collaborating with the body artist Vilija Vitkuté who has interpreted the lyrics with his art. A beautiful combination of art, music, dance and film.
The song is taken from LCTRISC’s debut album “The Fire In the Distant Future”, a great album, which I haven’t had the time to write about yet, though.

Flod – “Sjung min sång”

Here’s the debut singel and a music video from the band Flod. It’s called “Sjung min sång”, starts with a hard rock riff and glides over to something that feels like 70’s-inspired grand pop. The singer is Christian Dohber, whom you may have heard before in the band Moses.

CMBSTN – “C’mon Get Up (Happiness)”/”One of Us”

Here are two new singles from CMBSTN, “C’mon Get Up (Happiness)” and “One of Us”, and also the second part of their music video diptych, which started with “My Friend“. It’s an ambitious band who want to achieve a lot with their grand-sounding pop, and if they continue like this, they will.

Brother North

Brother North

Brother North – “Brother North” – album

I talked about the duo Brother North in the Autumn as they rolled out their first songs. Now they have released their debut album; eight songs of (mostly) acoustic singer-songwriter warmth spiced up with beautiful string arrangements. The earlier singles “Rain Song” and “Silent Running” are strong songs, but there are more gems to discover, like for example the grand-sounding “Skyward Light” or the romantic “Pool of Her”, which you can listen to here below. A beautifully shimmering debut with summer vibes.

Alice Boman – “Over”

Here’s a new single from Alice Boman, “Over”, taken from her upcoming EP, “EP II”. The song was recorded in her apartment by herself, in the same beautiful lofi-spirit as the earlier songs.

Varjen – “Against The Country”

Niklas Sibelius, or Varjen as he calls himself, will release his second EP “Against The Country”on the 9th of May. Four songs that makes me think of Tallest Man On Earth and which grow on me with each listen. It’s a dryer and and closer sound this time and a great follow-up to the last EP “Hardland“. Here’s the first single and the title track of the EP:

Luna Green – “Swedish Strawberries”

Luna Green release her second solo album tomorrow, “Swedish Strawberries”. Just like with the last album Niclas Frisk participates as a producer, co-writer and guitarist on some of the tracks. Here’s the title song, a seductive, smooth pop song, with quite a few Lana del Rey-vibes.
