Jan Johansen

January 27, 2009 at 2:34 pm

Jan JohansenKraftwerk sang about “Computer Love” in 1981. That was quite a while ago and Jan Johansen thought it was time for an update and tell us about the situation for a lonely PC, as it can be today.

Jan Johansen has one of my favourite voices, ever since I heard “Kommer tid, kommer vår” the first time in the nineties. It’s not exactly his own voice that shows itself in the song “Ensam PC” (“Lonely PC”) here below, but rather his mmm… friends voice, but if you’d like to hear more of Jan Johansens voice and his productions you should visit Jan Johansen’s Myspace page. Or his site.

The observant Meadowmusic reader has probably seen that we presented a song with Jan Johansen a while ago, “Do What You Gotta Do”. You’ll find it in our post about Lasse Söhr.

Meadowmusic celebrates 100!

October 25, 2008 at 1:00 pm

MeadowMusicThis is the hundredth post on this blog. It means that we so far have presented ninetynine artists, songwriters and producers. We thought of celebrating this by having a mini cavalcade with songs from some of the artists we have reviewed. Many of these songs are exclusive for download only here on Meadowmusic, and I hope that they are shared with people all over the world if you as a visitor like the songs.

We, here on Meadowmusic, are overwhelmed by all the support we have received since we started in the beginning of July. We started this because it felt like we were carrying around a secret that we just had to share with the world. And the secret was that there’s so much fantastic Swedish music, that seldom is played on the radio or other mainstream channels. And that this music is just as good, well, in fact much better than what is heard there. Well, it’s not a secret anymore, is it?

First we would like to thank you as a visitor, because you come here and listen to the music. Every visit, every time you listen, every recommendation to a friend, every mention of what you hear contributes to the promotion of the artists and their music, and to the support of this blog.
Thank you for all mail and tips and also for the communication with the artists.

We also would like to thank all the artists that support us. And I don’t mean only the artists that we have presented here, but also all of you that have contacted us, telling us that what we do is important and great. Thank you!

Below you’ll find some extra songs with artists from earlier posts. (Click on the artist’s name to go to the post about the artist.)

Tobbe Möller

September 6, 2008 at 8:00 am

Tobbe MöllerAll artists presented in here are songwriters and composers also performing their products. Tobbe Möller is a songwriter and a composer who’s performing solely for practical reasons, as he puts it.

There’s something special about Tobbe Möller, something supernatural, maybe even godlike! He may for real be the best songwriter in the world, but I’m not sure he’s aware himself.

I see Tobbe like a fairy dressed in an armour you don`t easily penetrate. But just as Tinkerbell sprinkles river glitter (or whatever) over people in need, he does the same for his tunes.

His are lyrics that are incredibly strong, clever harmonies and changes of chords, and melodies a raging bull won’t shake off.

Offered here is an early work, “Too Hard to Chew”, aside two later ones where Tobbe worked with other musicians. In “Young Boy In the Far Back Row” he got together with Lasse Söhr and singer Isak Strand.
Other recent collaborations include names as Pär Edwardson, Aurgrunn and Pär Enqvist.

Early works by Tobbe Möller maintain a feel of old rock/punk music with pumping Rickenbackers and delightful choirs; do listen to Purple Foxglove on his Myspace-page. Then rapidly switch to Tonårsbarn (Teenage Kid) or “Skakar inte mer” (Shaking No More) and enjoy the breadth of the man!

If you’re interested in the music or want to work with the originator, visit his Myspace page.

Now do enjoy the songs presented:

Keep cool,

Lasse Söhr

Lasse SöhrAs a producer, songwriter and brilliant bass player, you most often find Lasse Söhr behind the scenes.  So I thought it would be appropriate to put the spotlight on this great musician.

On the musical menu you will most often find music from the pop, rock, countryrock and soul genres, with a lot of variation, coming from his feeling for what a song really is about. From his latest works you can find collaborations with Jan Johansen, Isak Strand, Christian Müller, Tobbe Möller et al.
I should of course also mention the songs of Marwins, the joint project with the fantastic singer and coproducer, Magnus Löfström.
Below you’ll find two great songs by Marwins:
Night Time Magic
Have You Ever

Meet here also Lasse’s band Topeledo, in this song collaborating with another great singer, Jan Johansen:
Do What You Gotta Do
(Micke Ajax-drums, Janne Eriksson-slide guitar, Lasse Varteva-guitars and backing vocals, Jan Johansen-vocals and mix, Lasse Söhr-bass, guitars and backing vocals, Lyrics & Music-Lasse Varteva & Lasse Söhr):

Together with  Pär Enqvist, Lasse Söhr was behind the fund raising campaign for a swedish charity fund for children’s rights, “Insamling till Barnfonden” that started in December 2007. The campaign was centered around the song “Stark och fri” (“Strong and Free”), where all revenues from the song was collected for the fund.

(performed by Lasse Söhr, Lars Strandberg, Lars Varteva, Pär Enqvist, Lyrics-Pär Enqvist, Music-Pär Enqvist & Lasse Söhr)
