Polar Bear & King – “Holy Ground”

Polar Bear & King is a new duo who have just released their first single, “Holy Ground”. Quite a pleasant acquaintance with falsetto vocals dressed in a powerful folk pop sound which emphasize the song title.

Trädet – “Minds” (feat. Linnea Sundemo)

Trädet is the artist behind this bright, soft electropop creation, “Minds”, together with Linnea Sundemo, who has supplied vocals and lyrics. “A track about pretending, longing, waiting, maybe begging” they write.

Alice Boman – “Be Mine”

Alice Boman is in her very own special dimension, a dimension full of peace and harmony. Luckily for us we can visit her now and then to rest our weary heads. Like now, when she’s releasing this beautiful single “Be Mine”, taken from her debut album released this summer. The video is created by the video artist Anders Weberg.

Little Children – “Hey Hey”

I don’t say no to new songs from Linus Lutti and his Little Children. Here in the latest single “Hey Hey” with a rawer and closer sound compared to the last two songs from earlier this year.

Natten – “Taxi Taxi”

Finally a new song and video from Natten, “Taxi Taxi”, this time with vocals by Wonder Wendy. “The video making process involved building a coffin, digging graves and organizing a night time cultic ritual in an undisclosed location in Stockholm. Quite simply a very enjoyable saturday night”, they tell.

Mount David – “Do Almost Anything”

If Mount David’s first single came with a breath of Van Morrison, the second single, “Do Most Anything” have a fragrance of Simon & Garfunkel and CSN&Y. Not bad at all.

Manifestet – “Hur det blev som det blev”

We’ve met Jonas Carping before as a solo artist and in The Glade. Now he’s created a new project, “Manifestet”, together with Martin Karlsson, and released the debut single. It’s called “Hur det blev som det blev”, and brings a strong vibe of classic Swedish folk-progressive music, but which comes out like a battle song for our time.

Crying Day Care Choir – “Leave the Kingdom” – album

Crying Day Care Choir recently released their debut album “Leave the Kingdom”. So bring a blanket and settle down on the green grass under the blue summer sky and the band will treat you with warmth, flowers, peace signs, smiles, sing-a-long and fellowship. Here’s the first single and video from the album, “Up & Away”:

Joe Fiddle – “Where I’ll Spend My Years”

Joe Fiddle, or Joe Nyström which is his real name, comes from Älvsbyn in the north of Sweden. For some time he’s made a living as a street musician in both Dubrovnik’s old city and at the pier in Santa Monica, but is now back in Sweden and Umeå. In the Autumn he’ll release his first record “Where I’ll Spend My Years”, and serves us a taste here with this single, “Where I’ll Spend My Years”, a song that has vibes of Bob Dylan and Tallest Man On Earth.

Folk and pop from Brother North, Alice Boman, Varjen and Luna Green

Brother North

Brother North – “Brother North” – album

I talked about the duo Brother North in the Autumn as they rolled out their first songs. Now they have released their debut album; eight songs of (mostly) acoustic singer-songwriter warmth spiced up with beautiful string arrangements. The earlier singles “Rain Song” and “Silent Running” are strong songs, but there are more gems to discover, like for example the grand-sounding “Skyward Light” or the romantic “Pool of Her”, which you can listen to here below. A beautifully shimmering debut with summer vibes.

Alice Boman – “Over”

Here’s a new single from Alice Boman, “Over”, taken from her upcoming EP, “EP II”. The song was recorded in her apartment by herself, in the same beautiful lofi-spirit as the earlier songs.

Varjen – “Against The Country”

Niklas Sibelius, or Varjen as he calls himself, will release his second EP “Against The Country”on the 9th of May. Four songs that makes me think of Tallest Man On Earth and which grow on me with each listen. It’s a dryer and and closer sound this time and a great follow-up to the last EP “Hardland“. Here’s the first single and the title track of the EP:

Luna Green – “Swedish Strawberries”

Luna Green release her second solo album tomorrow, “Swedish Strawberries”. Just like with the last album Niclas Frisk participates as a producer, co-writer and guitarist on some of the tracks. Here’s the title song, a seductive, smooth pop song, with quite a few Lana del Rey-vibes.

Indie-electropop and some folk pop from Wouie, Lon Rangur, Woolfish and Last Lynx

Last Lynx

Wouie – “It Is What It Is/Changes”

The duon Wouie release their songs in pairs, now for the third time this year. I like it, more good stuff for us. Apparently they are working on a full length album, due for release this summer.

Lon Rangur – “Spirit”

Lon Rangur is a duo which consists of William Laryea and Jack Elphick, two Londoners who moved to Stockholm. And their first song release, “Spirit”, with it’s catchy chorus frase and interesting electroindie-sound, certainly makes me want to here more from them.

Woolfish – “Tune of Time”

And the third duo today, Woolfish, Joakim Wiik och Samuel Heiligers, released the single “Tune of Time” earlier this week. The song is the opening track in the film “You Never Know“, which I told you about the other week, when I posted the premiere for Samuel’s solo debut with Songs of Sam. This song is something completely different from their earlier single “Files“; here we hear a soft, gorgeous acoustic pop with vocal harmonies and slowly rocking bossa rhythm that takes us through the song.

Last Lynx – “Curtains”

Last Lynx release the second single from the upcoming EP “Rifts”. It’s called “Curtains”, and I marvel at how they manage to produce one great track after the other.

Brilliant comebacks from Heart-Sick Groans and Björns vänner and a debut from Erik Christoffer

Heart-Sick Groans – “Black Hair Typography” -EP

I didn’t quite realize how much I missed receiving new music from Heart-Sick Groans until I listened to their new four-track EP “Black Hair Typography”. Cause it’s been a couple of years since I heard from them, and the singer Johan Brännström explains: “We had to find out if there’s more to life than music. There isn’t.”
It’s an EP where I feel at home, but at the same time they sound more unique than ever before in their special blend of sunny folk-indiepop. There are four songs, each one with it’s own character, and my favourite varies every time I listen. It’s like a lovely spring pastry, sweet and tasty, but which tastes a bit different depending on from which side you start to eat. Here are two songs:

Björns vänner – “Märker ni ingenting alls?” – EP

Björns vänner, hailing from Malmö, had a short but colourful career between 2002 and 2005. Yesterday they made a comeback with a brand new EP, which is also a first taste of a new album coming out in the Autumn. The band wasn’t part of my own musical menu back in those days, but I can understand the passion among their fanbase for the band’s uncromising rock sound and Rickard Schickes lyrics when I listen to these new songs.

Erik Christoffer – “Spanish Orange Trees”

And now a debut release. We like debuts here on Meadowmusic, as you may have noticed. It’s Erik Christoffer who has released the song “Spanish Orange Trees”, a bittersweet piano driven ballad about a Spanish adventure.
