Chris Michols Band – “Scar Trek”

August 27, 2010 at 3:29 pm

Chris MicholsLast week Chris Michols Band released their first official album, “Scar Trek”. Two years ago Chris Michols solo released the album “The Long Road”, only digitally, which was downloaded more than 100 000 times on different sites. Parts of that album was later released officially on the EP Fade In in 2009.

The new album continues where the former albums left us, with singer/songwriter with a postgrunge feeling, strong melodies and of course Chris special voice in the foreground. But it contains much more than this. The melodies are there, the hooks, and the postgrunge vibes too, but these vibes have left more and more space for other influences, like folk music, the sixties and indie rock, which is all nicely blended with the rest.

If you’re already a fan you will recognize Chris Michols, but at the same time experience a more varied, strong album. Listen more on Chris Michols Band’s site. Here are two tracks from “Scar Trek”:

Meadowmusic celebrates 100!

October 25, 2008 at 1:00 pm

MeadowMusicThis is the hundredth post on this blog. It means that we so far have presented ninetynine artists, songwriters and producers. We thought of celebrating this by having a mini cavalcade with songs from some of the artists we have reviewed. Many of these songs are exclusive for download only here on Meadowmusic, and I hope that they are shared with people all over the world if you as a visitor like the songs.

We, here on Meadowmusic, are overwhelmed by all the support we have received since we started in the beginning of July. We started this because it felt like we were carrying around a secret that we just had to share with the world. And the secret was that there’s so much fantastic Swedish music, that seldom is played on the radio or other mainstream channels. And that this music is just as good, well, in fact much better than what is heard there. Well, it’s not a secret anymore, is it?

First we would like to thank you as a visitor, because you come here and listen to the music. Every visit, every time you listen, every recommendation to a friend, every mention of what you hear contributes to the promotion of the artists and their music, and to the support of this blog.
Thank you for all mail and tips and also for the communication with the artists.

We also would like to thank all the artists that support us. And I don’t mean only the artists that we have presented here, but also all of you that have contacted us, telling us that what we do is important and great. Thank you!

Below you’ll find some extra songs with artists from earlier posts. (Click on the artist’s name to go to the post about the artist.)

Chris Michols

Chris MicholsAs a true grunge fan, I find it very hard to dislike Chris Michols. To me, his voice sound very special, even though I can hear pieces of Eddie Wedder, Chris Cornell and Lane Staley in him. In other words: not a bad voice at all.

And luckily, his songs are not bad either. On the contrary, I would say that they are really good. If I have to describe them in words, I would say that it’s about a wonderful kind of laidback grunge with a touch of singer/songwriter. But, it’s probably better that you listen for yourself.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Chris anyday now would be approached by a bigger record label, that want to spread his music all over the world. I rather hope that it would happen soon. Because he’s simply to good to be only heard by a few.

The best part is that Chris allows us to take part of his music for free. He has uploaded his latest album, “The Long Road”, on his home page, chrismichols.com, and set it up free for download. There you can also come in contact with Chris, read about him, see where he plays live, among other things. You can also find him on Myspace.

Here are four songs from “The Long Road”:

Fade In Fade Out
I Want to Go Home
Hard to Let Go
