“Sången heter Chans” is a new EP from the band Ismael. Three songs with a somewhat different sound compared to their last album. Karin Wistrand (Lolita Pop) is a guest on two of the tracks and on the beautiful ballad below Elina Ahlander (Mezzobell, Moraltanten) contributes with some vocals.

If someone would play Mac Blagick to me and then claim that they were one of the pioneering bands from the beginning of the seventies that set the foundations for hard rock, I probably would have bought it. I would wonder, though, how a great band like this could have escaped my odysseys, hunting for great bands of that era.
Mac Blagick really radiates retro from those days, from the sound, from the songwriting and from the excellent vocals. They move between songs that remind me of a heavier Cream to others that take a big step into the seventies’ hard rock but with an older sound.
This year they released their second album “Ramadawn” and they are now underway with recording their third. You can visit them on Myspace. Here are two songs from “Ramadawn”:
Chick-e-Chack is a relatively new trio from Göteborg. This summer they released the singel “Det är nog idag”.
Kim Nilsson, after 10 years as a member of the punk band Blisterhead, longed for creating irresistable pop melodies and convinced drummer Martin Svensson and bass player Marcus Nordström to join the ride. The result is Chick-e-Chack.
The name of the band comes from a song by Docent Död. And somewhere in those regions, together with some influences from Göteborg, you can find their music; nice messy vocals sung in Swedish, good pop melodies and a good drive.

The duo A Swarm of the Sun, Erik Nilsson and Jakob Berglund, released their debut album “Zenith” the 30th of August. Influenced by bands like Mogwai, M83, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Logh and Cult of Luna, they paint a dark, suggestive and beautiful sound landscape.
I can’t help thinking about Pink Floyd as they build up the songs from low-voiced melodies and feelings up to grand, powerful sceneries. A real album with ideas behind it and an interesting journey from the beginning to the end.

The last couple of days I’ve been enjoying Hillström & Billy’s second full length album, “Outtakes and Remakes of Heartaches, which was released in July. It’s a record that has grown stronger and stronger everytime I’ve listened to it, and keeps doing so. If the debut album was good, this follow-up is brilliant.
The base is a nice retro-seventies sound from where he explores some soul, classic 70s-rock, ballads, 80’s pop and modern indie and more. The beatlesque feeling is there, 10 cc’s playfulness, grandness side by side with nakedness and a whole bunch of great melodies.
On the album members from Perssons pack, Hovet and Diamond Dogs participates. It’s only released on vinyl and also on the net of course.
