Kompaniet, hailing from Sala, takes us back to the early seventies’ psychadelic and progressive rock on their debut album “Vi i dalen”. Well, in fact there’s a range of influences that meet on the album, like blues, folk, jazz and rock which is also significant for that era when artists started to mix genres and experiment wildly. The songs started to live their own lives, both when it comes to length and structure. Kompaniet have found their own strong character in the middle of all this, as they cruise between Pink Floyd-influences, blues, Swedish progressive rock and folk music, from a relaxed ambience to drama.

Yes, I’m quite impressed by this debut. I don’t know more about the band than that they started in 2011 and that there are ten members in the band. You can find two songs to listen to here below, with the second one being the finishing 16 minute long “Nere i Dalen”.

Today I changed the design here on the blog, as I was seriously tired of the old look. I hope that you’ll feel more comfortable here now, with less clutter and more air to breathe. So, this is the first post on the new site.

And it’s about Francobollo, a band of soulful lunatics that moved to London and apparently are on the way of having quite some success there with their music. The music videos are indeed something special together with the songs, and when you have seen them their “lo-fi grunge-pop” appear to be contagious. They have earlier released the single “I Found a Bike Today” and now, a couple of weeks ago, the new song “Basketball”. You’ll also find the song “Sense” here below.

Here’s a good dose of country rock from Buford Pope in his fourth album “Matching Numbers”. I hear Jackson Browne from the middle of the seventies in this, and also parts of  Eagles, Springsteen and Tom Petty from the same era. His voice makes this quite special; it feels a little like the early Rod Stewart, well in that direction at least, and a voice you really react to the first time you hear it. It’s a warm, pleasant sound and a beautifully melodic collection of songs on the album, where they sometimes hit that little extra nerve in for example “Somebody Like You” here below and “Yours and Mine”.

Somebody Like You

Christoffer Englund decided to leave the band where he had been playing during seven years and build something completely on his own. After a couple of years working on the new project, this Autumn he pushed the start button for his solo adventure The Ginger. Two songs are out where he shows a melancholic pop in the borderland to rock, nicely coloured by electronica. Beautiful melodies with a certain feeling of drama and some eighties vibes. There seems to be more good songs in his storage, judging from the live video you can watch here below, which we probably will meet soon in recorded versions.
