Karmacloud is the name of a Danish-Swedish-Irish trio with the members Rumle Langdal, Linnéa Lundgren and Daniel Forde. We meet acoustic guitars, beautiful vocal harmonies and folk vibes that make me think of CSN&Y, Joni Mitchell and the early seventies. So far they’ve release a single and an EP. I don’t get that many tips about Swedish folk songs. It’s a genre that doesn’t get as much attention anymore in the large media channels in Sweden as it got a couple of decades ago, but it lives on and of course we’re reminded of the influence it has all the time in modern rock and pop songs. A young singer/songwriter that nurtures the storytelling Swedish folk tradition soil is Frida Braxell. Last year she released the album “Fattiga Riddare”, which is a collection of her recordings from the last years. A lot of stories of course, warmth, humour and also quite a few of these rhymed razor sharp frases that sticks. Here are a couple of songs:

Adna is a pleasant new acqaintance who released two singles during Summer and last year her debut EP. She has just finished high school and is now focusing on the music, first of all on the debut album which is being released in the end of this year, from what I understand. Quiet and soft, but far from insecure, accompanied by echoing guitars from the eighties, she slowly moves inte my room with her folk-vibing singer/songwriter songs, which grows upon me each time I listen. I will certainly be interesting to listen to her debut album.

About nine months ago Crying Day Care Choir sowed the seeds to two beautiful creations, where one of them saw the daylight yesterday and the other one shows itself to us today. The firstborn is the band members Jack and Sara’s child and the sibling from today is the new song “Folklore”. I congratulate them to these births, and it seems like we can expect more siblings in Spring in the shape of a number of new songs on their upcoming debut album:

The song follows the tradition of folk lore and tells tales about the married couple Jack and Sara’s many adventures around the world, accompanied by brother Bill’s bombastic beats. The song is a story told by the band while it is also the start of their next adventure with releasing a full length album for you sometime in Spring next year.
