Here are some pearls for songs that I didn’t have the time to present in the Autumn. It’s one half of the duo Wan Light, Krister Svensson, who in his solo project do something completely different. Instead of the rather big productions from Wan Light he’s completely alone with his guitar here, in recordings that are not polished at all, but retain that live vibe, like if they were taken from an intimate gig. To me the result is mesmerising where he with his wonderful presence, warmth and closeness capture my attention completely. He writes that an album is coming up in Spring, where he also willl add songs written to photos taken by photographer Bengt Alm. When he’s solo he also calls himself Harry Clinich, and presently I’m not quite sure which artist name he will choose for the album. Here are three of the songs he’s uploaded as a first taste.

Here’s a collection of songs “Sju små sagomelodier och en låt som mest är som ett ljud” recorded already in 1996 by Eric Malmberg, but previously unreleased save for a small CD-edition. All is recorded on a portable cassette studio with organ, drumming on a guitar, a tambourine and a cymbal. The Swedish folk melancholy runs through these beautiful melodies and the kinship with Bo Hansson (whom he has also performed with) lies close at hand, or why not Mackaper from recent years. Eric is also member of the fascinating duo Sagor & Swing, and has also released five other solo albums. It’s Friday and the end of the week, so I thought I’d gather some news from this week I haven’t had the time to present yet. Here’s some more great music:

Stilett – debut album

Stilett is the name of a new punk band formed by Adam Nilsson from Tysta Mari and Crippe Määtä from Bombshell Rocks. Joined by Thomas Åberg (Twopointeight) and Inge Johansson (International Noise Conspiracy) they have released their debut album today. Here’s a taste of it:

Hurula – “Sluta deppa mig”

Robert Hurula, former front man in Masshysteri, is now going solo and have recorded an album to be released later in Spring.”Sluta deppa mig” is the first single from the record:

The Bland – “Changes”

I called the former street musicians The Bland’s folk and Americana-inspired music irresistable, the last time I wrote (called The Bland Band then) about them. And I still think it is when I listen to their new single “Changes”, which you can listen to here below. The song adverts their debut album “Strangers on the Side of the Street” which will be released next Friday.

Rebstar – “Simple”

Here’s some hip hop from Malmö, from the artist Rebstar. He released this single “Simple” this week, which is the first one from his upcoming album, which will be his third full length album.

Century of Ecstasy – “The City Of You”

Century of Ecstasy calls himself lo-fi-artist and shows us what he means by that on the debut single “The City Of You”, released yesterday. It’s a beautiful, soft piano ballad with a sound that could have been inspired by John Lennon from the early seventies.

Tom Levin is on his way with his fifth album the 29th of January. It’s called “Them Feet” and to tempt us he has released the roots-sounding title track as a single. Listen and enjoy:

Here’s a nice piece of folk soul-sounding music from Mount David, or David Andersson, which is his real name. The song “Falling Behind” is his third single and I land somewhere in Van Morrison’s domains from the seventies with David’s light, fragile voice with a lot of soul nerve in it.
