Sthlmiana – “Allt ljus på scen”

Sthlmiana

And the Stockholm trio Sthlmiana released their second single in May, “Allt ljus på scen”. We recognise them from their debut in this eighties-vibing synth pop, which reminds me about Mauro Scocco from that era.

SoLBLoMMa – “(Come Count The) Sheep (With Me)”

August 26, 2013 at 3:49 pm

SoLBLoMMa

Here’s SoLBLoMMa‘s new single “(Come Count The) Sheep (With Me)”, an electro pop track with a breath of the eighties. It’s a her first single under her own name, and if the music sounds familiar, you may have heard her earlier productions under the name kiN. Sara Solblomma is an odd and individualistic artist, not only through her almost Minnie Mouse-vibing vocals, but also through the message and her variegated career, which started with the album debut in 1997 and then continued through a row of various projects, musical experiments and collaborations. A new single is coming up during Autumn. Here is “(Come Count The) Sheep (With Me)”:

Chocolate Barry – “I Cry Because of You Argentina”

August 26, 2013 at 2:26 pm

Chocolate Barry

Today I’m starting with a reissue of music originally released in 2001. It’s about the trio Chocolate Barry, whose album “Cucumber Trees and Ice Cold Lemonade” now is available for streaming and downloading. The band, hailing from Malmö, consisted of the two brothers John and Chocolate Barry and also Marco Manieri. The contagious song “I Cry Because of You Argentina”, here below, was played quite a bit back then, but isn’t entirely representative for the album, which is a unique blend of sixties’ nostalgia, electronica, disco, pop and psychadelia with both vocal and instrumental tracks. I could imagine this as a movie soundtrack; maybe then a movie about Chocolate Barry himself.

John ola – “LP”

August 20, 2013 at 3:53 pm

John ola

John ola is the former guitarist in the punk band C. Aarmé. In Spring he released his solo album debut, which shortly is called “LP”. It’s a strong instrumental album where he paints harsh, dark landscapes, where the dust still whirls around after the battle, but where beautiful melodies makes it through the haze from afar. It feels filmic and the analogue synth sounds reminds us of old glorious days in this newly created rough environment. Here are two songs:

Snakethread

Snakethread is a Swedish producer and DJ, whom I’m going to present a couple of tracks from today. Well, you can guess that it’s about electronica, mostly instrumental. It’s ambient and colourful, rather varied and imaginative with ambiences that ranges from the ominous to chill with an urban vibe. He’s continuously presenting new songs, which you can follow on his Soundcloud page. Here’s a taste:
