Wouie – “It Is What It Is/Changes”

The duon Wouie release their songs in pairs, now for the third time this year. I like it, more good stuff for us. Apparently they are working on a full length album, due for release this summer.

Lon Rangur – “Spirit”

Lon Rangur is a duo which consists of William Laryea and Jack Elphick, two Londoners who moved to Stockholm. And their first song release, “Spirit”, with it’s catchy chorus frase and interesting electroindie-sound, certainly makes me want to here more from them.

Woolfish – “Tune of Time”

And the third duo today, Woolfish, Joakim Wiik och Samuel Heiligers, released the single “Tune of Time” earlier this week. The song is the opening track in the film “You Never Know“, which I told you about the other week, when I posted the premiere for Samuel’s solo debut with Songs of Sam. This song is something completely different from their earlier single “Files“; here we hear a soft, gorgeous acoustic pop with vocal harmonies and slowly rocking bossa rhythm that takes us through the song.

Last Lynx – “Curtains”

Last Lynx release the second single from the upcoming EP “Rifts”. It’s called “Curtains”, and I marvel at how they manage to produce one great track after the other.

The Spiny Normans

I receive more great music than ever, so I’ll kickstart this week with six releases:

The Spiny Normans – “Waiting For the Storm” – EP

The Spiny Normans are based in Stockholm but have some of their roots in Åland. They released the debut EP in the Autumn, which will be available on Spotify and other services in a couple of weeks. I’d say it’s about folk inspired pop with a certain sense of drama. Here are two songs:

Lejonsläktet – “In och ut” – EP

The duo Lejonsläktet, whom I talked about last month, have released their debut EP now, full of great psychadelia with a vibe of Jämtland. Here’s the starting track “Ett svagt hopp om” from the EP:

The Tarantula Waltz – “Scandinavian Minds”

The Tarantula Waltz has released this Americana-sounding single from the new album “Tinder Stick Neck”, his third album which is being released this week.

Iris & Hedvig – “The Watcher & The Mind”

Here’s a new interesting young pop duo, Iris & Hedvig, with the debut single “The Watcher & The Mind”.  The song was produced by Christina Wehage, whom we’ve met before in her own project Be The Bear.

Rökmorsa

Rökmorsa is one of the projects the trio Pontus Björlin, Anders Åkesson and August Sörensons have been working on. They have collected 12 songs they recorded already in 2008 on the album “Forever’s Gonna Start Tonight”. It’s instrumental, experimental and a blend of influences from now and then. Here are two tracks:

Manor Rungs

The producer deadbeat has written songs and produced music for other artists before, for example electronica artist Compute and The Girl & The Robot. Now he’s grabbed the microphone himself and released seven songs under the name Manor Rungs. It’s a quite special blend of electronica and rock in Swedish, with some instrumental breaks. Listen for yourself:

Sveket

The Red & Hidden Language

The trio Pelle Ljungberg, Teddy Skoglund and Lars Jönsson form the core of the folk-psychadelia band The Red & Hidden Language.  Last year they released their debut album with songs that bring artists like Nick Drake, Devendra Banhart och CSN&Y to mind. Here are two songs:

Sequoia

Here are a couple of songs from a band/project called Sequoia. Great songs with nice falsetto vocals, rather varying but with a foundation in folk-inspired pop. As they haven’t released anything yet on Spotify and similar services, you can go to their Soundcloud page to hear more songs.

Sveket – “Hollywoodslut”

The duo Sveket are releasing a new single next week, “Hollywoodslut” (“Hollywood endings”), with a surprising electro pop arrangement, quite a distance from the earlier singles with a more traditional sound. The melodramatic retro-schlager vibe in the vocals and the melodies is still there, though, which makes an interesting combination. The single is also first taste of the upcoming debut album “Une vie à vivre”.

Wilderness – “Hold On”

The trio Wilderness follows up on their debut single from last year with the new song “Hold On”. Great dreamy electro pop where they get help from Sabina Wärme this time too. The single is accompanied by a beautiful music video which you can watch here below.

The Shy Lips

Dream Lake

Dreamlake, hailing from Stockholm, is a duo formed by Isabella Swärdstam och Niklas Willar Lidholm. In the Autumn they released their debut EP with five tracks, and a couple of weeks ago the video to “In The Lights” from the EP. They call their music dream pop, which is a suitable description to these beautiful, grand-sounding and soft pop songs. Here are a couple of songs from the EP, the video I mentioned above and also a new disco-influenced remix signed Ludvig Thunberg.

Leppen – “Iställetförattprata”

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about Leppen’s single “Sova“. Today he shows us another song from the upcoming EP “Iställetförattprata” (April 28th), namely the title track. There’s a video to the last single “Sova” too, which I missed the last time..

The Gloria Story – “Born to Lose” – video

A couple of days ago the hard rock band The Gloria Story released the second single from last year’s album “Born to Lose“. They’ve chosen to present the song in this well-cut tour video:

The Shy Lips – “She Was Born In Bahia”

I’m glad that The Shy Lips from Göteborg is back here in the blog with the new single “She Was Born In Bahia”. I find it difficult to defend myself against this, just like with songs I wrote about last year. “Indie rock at it’s best” it says in the promo mail, and I’m inclined to agree with that.

Heroic

JumJum – “Lillebror” – EP

The duo JumJum released their debut EP “Lillebror” (“Little brother”) in December. I wrote about their single “Stannar du stannar jag” earlier, but they had a different band name then. It’s synth pop, somewhat minmalistic and with a nostalgic, a bit melancholic expression. And it’s hard to neglect their videos, videos that emphasize this nostalgic atmosphere with environments and scenes a Swede can relate to in various ways. They’ve made three so far, and here below is the moving but bright video to the title track.

Malin Kay – “End of Story”

Here’s another debut release. It’s Malin Kay, hailing from Umeå, who presents herself with this pop single, “End of Story”:

Teadoro – “Nightsky – Septembersolen”

Teadoro is a band that released their first single today. It may seem a bit odd with a single release in Spring with a song about the September sun, but the music feels rather Spring-like and I can’t help thinking about Ted Gärdestad in a sunny mood.

Heroic – “Voltaire” – video

The rock band Heroic released the video to the song “Voltaire” today, one of two songs they released last Friday. This is also a well produced video, a bit frightening as the singer Oscar Bätz is fighting with his demons.
