Thomas Teller – “Tillbaka igen; härifrån nu”

Thomas Teller

Thomas Teller from Malmö recently released his debut album “Tillbaka igen; härifrån nu”. Thomas has earlier released “two EP:s under the name Early Me, composed music to a dance show, created choir arrangments for one of the most prominent Iranian poets of today and is one of the founders to the live concept Bushwick Book Club Sverige, where books inspire artists to write new songs” (transl. from Swedish, artist bio)

The album is quite a pleasant experience with thoroughly written lyrics, a mix of humor and seriousness, just like he describes them himself. The music changes from the the intimate, naked, folk-inspired to grand pop and often lands in a dreamy, longing vibe, which I really like. My favourite track is “Anderslöv”, also a village in Skåne which now finally has a song.

Lindblom & Lindblom

A couple of weeks ago we got a taste of the duo Lindblom & Lindblom’s new album, which will be released officially in a week on December 8th. We can listen to the 8 tracks from the album “Sturm und Drang” already today, though, and on their Bandcamp page there’s also a limited cassette version available, with a live recording on the b-side. Help yourself to some great instrumental noise rock:

Vena Portae – “Flames & Fury”

Vena Portae

Today the Swedish-English trio Vena Portae, Ruben Engzell, Dom Coyote and Emily Barker, released this music video to their song “Flames &Fury”, taken from their debut album. It’s a wonderful piece of folk pop with big emotions, some drama and a lovely warmth I just fell for immediately. I haven’t listened to their album before but I’ll make sure I do now, of course. The write about the song:

A fictitious couple, unhealthily obsessed with one another, addicted to the drama of their love, fated to be together in a perpetual cycle of dysfunction. When we were recording the record in Mölnbo, we went out for dinner most nights to a Turkish pizzeria called Abhi’s. It was the only restaurant/bar in the town. Before doing the vocal take on this tune, we visited Abhi’s and Emily got steamingly drunk so she could get further into character.

Lac Belot – “Elizabeth” EP

Lac Belot

Here’s some inspiration from Finland. It’s Jarno Takkumäki from Helsingfors who has released his debut EP “Elizabeth” under the artist name Lac Belot. He offers a pleasant, relaxed and a bit dreamy singer/songwriter pop on the three songs. Here are two of them:

Cassius Lambert – “Orangeri” EP

November 28, 2014 at 1:18 pm

Cassius Lambert

We’ve met Cassius Lambert before as a bass player in the band Funked Up. During the Autumn he has left the band, though, to take care of his solo debut, the EP “Orangeri”. On the EP he’s joined by a number of musicians like for example Lelo Nika jr on accordion, Ludvig Samuelsson on alto saxophone and Arvid Ingvarsson on drums, to mention a few. There are three instrumental tracks on the EP, where he still has a few toes left in the seventies’ funk, but then in a blend of various genres which makes me think of fusionjazz from the seventies. It’s an impressive start of his solo project by this young musician, who also writes that an album is coming up in Spring. Here are two of the songs:
