Shotgun Crackers – Visual Randomization

March 30, 2009 at 5:24 pm

Shotgun CrackersNow it’s time again! The energy shooting indie pop phantoms from Norrtälje, Shotgun Crackers, have an EP they would like to share with us, “Visual Randomization”. I know that many of you readers have become fascinated by their music, here on Meadowmusic, which makes it an easy decision to continue to serve you these musical titbits.

If it seems like you recognise some tracks from before, you’re right. “Welcome To Junior Thomas” is a new recording of their song “Blood, Tears and Dreams” and it’s the same with “Runner Runner” from the last EP “Khpptsch”, which they released  here on Meadowmusic. “Trevor” also is a new version of the same song from the last EP.

Listen to and enjoy “Visual Randomization” with Shotgun Crackers:

Same Old Story

March 26, 2009 at 5:40 pm

Same Old StoryNormally I don’t listen that much to skate punk. Not that I dislike the genre, maybe it’s just that it doesn’t tell me anything, at least for the moment. But the Karlskoga band Same Old Story managed to catch my attention pretty quickly.

I think their music feels really good, with an attitude that feels real, and not something that’s fabricated. They also manage to create something of their own here, with rock flirts, playfulness and a lot of musicality.

The fourth of April they have a release party for their new EP “Waste of Time”. A four track record full of energy. You can listen to two tracks from the EP here below.

New songs from Pachanga!

March 25, 2009 at 3:59 pm

In October I wrote about Pachanga, as they invited us to a party at Möllevången. I’m happy to be able to present here a couple of new tracks I have received from them.

You will recognise Pachanga in these songs, when they first speed up with “Kula i huvudet” (“Bullet in the head”). It feels a little like a messier and more angry Dan Hylander, when he was most heard of during the eighties.

In “Fri & ut” (“Free & Out”), though, we meet a calmer Pachanga, like some lo-fi Möllevångian americana.

Moist

March 23, 2009 at 5:53 pm

I’m sitting here listening to nice ambient tones from Moist. To be exact, the EP “Alone”, a 7-track record with 4 original tracks and 3 interesting remixes from Addeboy vs Cliff, Håkan Lidbo and Red Snapper.

The Moist songs has a mellow, atmospheric feeling, where heavy bass beats step down and give depth to it all. At the same time this is good down-tempo pop with Maria Marcus’ somewhat distanced, souly voice in a perfect marriage with the ambience. Really good electronica which you can dive into and dream away with for a while.

Behind Moist you’ll find the songwriter and producer David Elfström Lilja, who, in various collaborations, creates this beautiful music under the name Moist. On Moist’s site you can listen more and also download the EP “I Am What I Am”. Recently a collaboration with Sophie Rimheden “Just Say You’re Sorry”, was released, which you can listen to and download.

Moist also has a Myspace page, where you can listen to the EP “Alone”. Here’s a video from the EP “I Am What I Am” and two tracks from “Alone”, which you can listen to and download:

Shallow Sense

March 16, 2009 at 4:22 pm

The Västerås band Shallow Sense plays a mellow grand pop with some indie feeling. Like if  Coldplay and The Killers started playing together. And Shallow Sense does a really job at this.

You can listen to this on their 4-track EP, which they recently released. It’s an even and strong record, where I find the dramatic “Weak” the strongest track. You can listen to the song here below. I think that they have created an impressive base here, that shows that Shallow Sense really should be taken seriously.

You can download the entire EP for free on Shallow Sense’s site and on their Myspace page.
