Already in autumn, when I wrote about the electronica/ambient-duo ad dios, I could present a track from their upcoming album “A Journey through Middle Earth”. Now the album is here, and the journey is complete.

That they would create an album set in Tolkien’s landscapes doesn’t come as a complete surprise; the inspiration from celtic myths and ancient landscapes is there both in the stories from Middle Earth and in the works from ad dios. I do find, though, a little shift in style in this album compared to the others; this is much more focused on melodies than the ambient style. Like if the melodies carries some part of the story and not only describe the places.

Many of us have a special relation to this world of fantasy, and other composers have before created music with this theme. Here you can listen to a couple of tracks from ad dios’ version of Middle Earth.

Last summer we wrote about Malte X here on Meadowmusic. And now they’re on the move again with new music.

This Monday their new singel “Kamikaze volontär” (You Wanted the Worst Records) was released. And if you liked them before, I don’t think you’ll be dissappointed with this new track. It’s rock’n’roll and it’s punk rock, high speed and attitude.

Kamikaze volontär

Basko Sthlm, which I wrote about last autumn is releasing their first full length album. You can already now listen to the album and download it on Basko Sthlm’s site, but the actual CD is released the 9th of June. They celebrate this with a release party at Debaser, open for anyone to join.

It’s a really nice and varied album they present, partly with a new musical character, compared to what I wrote about earlier. The playfulness and the joyfullness is there, and so is the backbeat every now and then. The latino inspiration, though, is not so pronounced now; instead there are more of an indie-pop feeling and more space for ambience and thoughtfulness. Really nice.

It’s been a while since we had some Hip hop here on Meadowmusic, so it’s right about time for some more. And Jaeger is the artist that supplies the hip hop today. A nice groovy, laidback hiphop, cool and somewhat retro.

The song that Jaeger serves us here, “Blossom” is taken from the upcoming EP “Futuretro” (Swingin Hut), with guest vocals by Leon.

Melaina plays an alternative rock that sounds really interesting. Last fall they released their debut album, and you can listen to a track from the record, here below.

It’s an ambient and emotional rock that builds up a nice sound space. A little in the direction of bands like A Perfect Circle, but at the same time with a lot of variation. I can sometimes feel a metal heavyness and also a progressive, experimental feeling that challenges boundaries.

This is music I can listen to for a long time and float along in the almost meditative rock they play. If you’d like to listen some more, you should visit their Myspace page.
