We have written about Robotfabriken before here on Meadowmusic, but then under the name Skadade Ljud. In November they released a new song and changed their name.
“Rör mig igen” (“Touch Me Again”) is the name of the song, a song that won’t leave you dissapointed if you liked Robotfabriken’s EP earlier last year. You can find Robotfabriken on Facebook and you can also listen to their music on Robotfabriken’s Soundcloud page.
Erik Borelius isn’t a new artist, but seems to have an ability to reinvent himself from time to time and explore new grounds. And his new album “The World We Know It” is no exception.
This is his eleventh album since 1986 and even if he’s mostly known for his instrumental works before with the acoustic guitar in the frontline (listen to the brilliant “Movies On a String” on Spotify from 2008) , “The World We Know It” is a vocal album.
First of all “The World We Know It” is a pop album with beautiful melodies, good lyrics and nice vocals, but he mixes this with his beautiful and interesting guitar play (both electric and acoustic) and influences from jazz rock and progressive rock, to a wholeness.
There’s a soft, pleasant ambience, often grand where the choirs fill in and with a really good sound quality. A varying and enjoyable album that grows each time I listen to it.

Apparently Kitchen Sink Movement is a drama movement that started in the fifties, with a focus on the urban working class’ worries and problems. Sounds heavy. I don’t know if the band Kitchen Sink Movement derived their name directly from this, but their music doesn’t sound too heavy at all.
On the two-track single, “Dead Man Walking”, they released in the autumn they play an energic rock with a lot of ska vibes. A type of music that sounds like it’s made for energizing a live audience.

The sound from the early eighties’ electronica and new wave echoes very clearly from the trio Storbritannien’s debut EP “Krita”. In spite of the old references it feels quite fresh and in a way authentic, like if they were some kind of darker predecessor to Lustans Lakejer.
The EP cointains four good songs all with a little different character, in Swedish, but if we’re talking about hit potential they have created a great hook in the chorus of “Säg det högt”.
Apparently new songs are coming up, as they have recently finished the recording of a new EP. If you’d like to keep track of this and listen to all the songs on “Krita”, you can find Storbritannien on Myspace.
Even if we’ve learned to listen to hip hop from Malmö, most of the time I associate hip hop with the Stockholm suburbs, at least in my hip hop novice perspective. It’s interesting then to listen to Noss who comes from the deep forests in Småland, from Vetlanda, and raps in his dialect.
Noss has been releasing albums since 2006 and the latest one from the end of last year, is called “Traskar i träsket med trasiga träskor” (“Trailing in the swamp with broken clogs”), which you can listen to on Noss’ Youtube channel. Noss also has pages on Myspace and on Facebook.
