The Roskilde Festival (in Denmark) have been kind enough to invite Meadowmusic to the festival this year, so next week I’ll be there together with more then 100 000 fans, press people, artists and others. The main festival starts on the 4th, on Thursday, so that’s when it starts for me too, and as an assistant I will bring my thirteen year old daughter Marta (who may be the youngest accredited person ever, according to the festival).

As you know, I usually only write about studio recorded music, so this will be the first time I will head out in the field for the blog. I haven’t quite decided how yet, but there will be some kind of reporting from the festival, and if I have the time next week, I will write about some artists who are going to play at the festival.

The big names this year are Metallica, Kraftwerk, Queens of the Stone Age, Rihanna and some others, but there are more than 200 artists performing, so choosing will be hard. And even if wouldn’t like to miss Kraftwerk and Queens of the Stone Age to name a few, I will probably try to seek out some less known artists to write about, like I usually do.

The artist name A.M.E. is an acronym for the artist and actress Anna Maria Engberg. In 2010 she recorded a number of songs that were supposed to become a full length album. A collaboration that was terminated ended this work, though, but she took it in her own hands and together with the film maker Andreas Johansson she recorded videos to 7 seven of the songs and released it as a video album. The album is simply called “The Video Album”. Lovely, creative videos with a lot of play with light, shadows and silouettes to her somewhat minimalistic, beautiful and personal indie pop. Here’s some big-sounding indie pop/rock from Beat The Heart, hailing from Stockholm, who have released their debut EP “Glebe Market”. They have created a comfortable sound in these rather soft songs, large but with moderated arrangements, into which they have put some more ingredients: a little bit of the sixties, some folk and a dose of the eighties. A quite promising debut.

It’s been a couple of year since I wrote about Lars Wallin & The Tribe here on the blog. I hear from Lars, though, a little while ago as they are releasing some new singles this year, and I thought I’d present one of them here, “Rue De Mémoire”.

I recognise the somewhat harsh protest singer expression, the punk vibes and of course Lars signature, his didgeridoo. What makes this song even more special is that two famous touareg-musicians join the band in the song, the cajon-drummer Alain Plume and the bass player Zahir Aribi, which altogether  becomes a unique mix of influences from three continents (or four?). The boogie rockers BFM are back with the third part in their EP series “Boogie Delivery”. That their biggest influnce comes from Status Quo should be quite apparent as soon as you start to listen, but they know their stuff and serves a nice melodic boogie here below in  “Alexandra”.
