Scraps of Tape

The unpredictable, but still fascinating Scraps of Tape, hailing from Malmö, released the new EP “Orka allt” in May. There you’ll find five songs that jumps between beautiful melancholic reflections, post rock, instrumental noise rock and more. Here’s the title track.

John ola – “LP”

John ola

John ola is the former guitarist in the punk band C. Aarmé. In Spring he released his solo album debut, which shortly is called “LP”. It’s a strong instrumental album where he paints harsh, dark landscapes, where the dust still whirls around after the battle, but where beautiful melodies makes it through the haze from afar. It feels filmic and the analogue synth sounds reminds us of old glorious days in this newly created rough environment. Here are two songs:

Snakethread

Snakethread is a Swedish producer and DJ, whom I’m going to present a couple of tracks from today. Well, you can guess that it’s about electronica, mostly instrumental. It’s ambient and colourful, rather varied and imaginative with ambiences that ranges from the ominous to chill with an urban vibe. He’s continuously presenting new songs, which you can follow on his Soundcloud page. Here’s a taste:

Queenfish & Other Tales – “Dive In”

Queenfish & Other Tales

Ewa Wikström released her debut album “Landing” in May under the artist name Queenfish & Other Tales. A simple description could be singer/songwriter pop, but you’ll find much more than that here where she’s exploring harmonies and ambiences with the guitar, a piano, some horns, accordion and her voice. It’s enjoyable to listen to her playfulness and musical curiosity with her beautiful, close, personal touch. Here’s “Dive In”, a single that was released before the album launch.

MF/MB

MF/MB

It seems like the band MF/MB is having an intense year this year. They have released the new record “colossus” and I see them on one gig poster after the other. Maybe I’ll go and see them on Malmöfestivalen on Monday next week. During summer they have released a couple of singles with their special, intense guitar/synth-rock, both taken from the album and definitely worth a listen:
