Zucchini Drive – “No Food but Lots of Weapons”

Zucchini Drive

It’s been a couple of year since I wrote about the Swedish-Belgian duo Zucchini Drive. And to judge from the new album “No Food but Lots of Weapons” quite a few things have happened with their music. Compared to the urban, dark, hip hop-loaded “Shotgun Rules”, there is a very different atmospehere on the new album.

It feels lighter and more laidback and they have taken over the microphone themselves with relaxed, almost talk-singing vocals, sometimes complemented with other voices. They have created their very own style, experimenting with different influences and ambiences, but still I feel a thread through the songs in a melodic indie electronica in a slow pace as a common ground. A varied and enjoyable album.
