Tim Pirfält – “Världens största rock and rollkliché”

Tim Pirfält

After trying to study in Berlin for half a year Tim Pirfält returned to his hometown Jönköping. As his bands Tifuos and Holden C was put on hold, he picked up the music production again on his own, in his living room. The result so far is the EP “Världens största rock and rollkliché” (“The biggest rock and roll cliché on the world”), a pop album that breathes of Kent, but also other’s he mention as influences like Håkan Hellström, Jens Lekman, Kurt Vile, MacDemarco and Azure Blue. Songwise I think this is among the best he has made so far, especially when it comes to the lyrics, with lines that goes straight in, painting a young generation’s fumbling for meaning.

Tifuos – “Heartbreak and Other Things”

Tifuos

A year ago I wrote about Tim Pirfält’s solo project Eremitapa. Now he’s back in the band project Tifuos where he sings and writes songs. The band released the album “Heartbreak and Other Things” during Spring, an album that runs from indie-pop to Americana, inspired by first of all Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes and Ryan Adams in a pleasant mix.

Looking at Tim we meet a more self-assured singer with more attitude than the last time, and he also in a way confirms my feeling from before that he will go on and make great music in the time to come. They say that they have tried to catch as much spontaneity as possibly by recording most of the tracks live in the studio, which is quite obvious. The songs sprawls in different directions and breathes creativity. This sprawling is perfectly fine by me, but the variations in song volumes and sound makes it hard to enjoy the album as a whole. There are several pearl for songs, though, that you can listen to, like the one here below, “Greetings From the Poet”.

Listen more on Bandcamp or on Spotify. You can find the band on Facebook.

Eremitapa

EremitapaBehind the name Eremitapa we find Tim Pirfält, 19 years old, hailing from Jönköping. He has recently released the EP “Brev Till En Desillusionerad Vän” (“Letters to a disillusioned friend”). We meet a young man with a guitar, a somewhat uneven production and his search for an expression. And that’s what makes it real and honest too. Like it should be.

It’s mature without being premature, cautious but yet with attitude and he dares to experiment without overdoing it in his search. The EP, entirely in Swedish, is available on Eremitapa’s Bandcamp page. He also has a Facebook page.
