And let’s dream ourselves back to the eighties with This Vision again, in the single “Hungry Heart”. Maybe the best track so far from the electro pop duo, hailing from Helsingborg.
In spring I presentedThis Vision‘s single “20th Century”. The song was a first taste of the upcoming album “The Golden Age We Lost”, which was also released later in Spring. Compared to their debut album from 2009, quite a few things has happened with their songs and their sound.
We’re still in the eighties’ new wave-scene, with big rooms , analogue synth sounds and melancholy. But there’s more air, it’s warmer and more mature. They have managed to create a romantic, dreamy, retrospective feeling of the eighties, which I think many of us who grew up then recognise. It’s an atmospheric album with a soft tranquility in it which you can sink into and enjoy from the first to the last song without getting tired of .
Here below you’ll find the first song, “Ashes”, the second single from the album, and also the music video to the first single, “20th Century”.
This Vision are releasing their second album on May 11th. As an appetizer they have released the excellent single “20th Century” and yesterday also the video for the opening track, “Ashes”. Judging from “20th Century” the sound is no longer only about pure electronica with vibes from the eighties, but the development of the sound makes me feel even more of eighties’ retro, especially since I grew up during that decade. Maybe more New Order now than Pet Shop Boys I’d say, even if the band themselves say that they are more inspired by the Cure from those days.
This Vision, hailing from Helsingborg, released their first EP in 2007. After that they focused entirely in the production of their first full length album, and finally, in the end of last year, it was released. It’s about electronica inspired by the eighties and to me it lands somewhere between Pet Shop Boys and New Order. Handsome melodies and a nice melancholy interacting.
An interesting fact is that This Vision signed a contract with the biggest label in the Phillipines, and the album was launched there in December. Also hot right now is the fact that the song “Lost and Found” from the album was chosen to be the theme for the TV-show Gabba Gabba in SVT.
