Black Guillemot – “Knut Hamsun”

Black Guillemot

In November Black Guillemot, hailing from Göteborg, released their first EP, “Knut Hamsun”. The band consists of members from Jet Link and Since Our First Guitar, two bands I have presented here before. And it’s also easy to recognize Josef Wikström’s characteristic vocals in these indie pop vibing songs.

You can listen to three good songs and download them on the band’s Bandcamp page. You can also find them on Facebook and on Spotify.

Black GuillemotThe band name comes from Josef Wikström’s fascination for birds and especially bird legs. He says that he would like to try to have bird legs one day, preferably thick and resilient ones, like ostrich legs.

He was looking for bird names that sounded good, found that Red-Footed Falcon didn’t work as a band name, and finally found the bird Black Guillemot, which sounded cool (tordmule in Swedish).

Here’s the title track from the EP:

Since Our First GuitarHere’s another band we have presented before, and who has produced some new songs. Since Our First Guitar has released the single “Routine” with two really good tracks. I particularly like “Your Mind, Your Hell”, where Wallentin Richardsson’s cool voice come into it’s own.

They also mention that they soon will release a new EP, which I’m really looking forward to, having listened to this single. You can listen more on Spotify and on Bandcamp you can download their first album. Follow the band on Facebook.

Since Our First Guitar

Since Our First GuitarSince Our First Guitar is a band that grew out of friendship in the early teens. Step by step the band and their music was formed, and finally in 2008 they decided to make a serious effort. With that said, they locked themselves up in their studio, located in a barn outside of Lund, Sweden, to create the first album.

This debut album, “Sound of Trees”, was released in the end of 2009 and you can listen to a couple songs here below.

It’s a rather soft indierock where they have created a very nice sound atmosphere to be inside. Pleasant, is word that comes to my mind. Listen here see if you agree with me. You can find more of Since Our First Guitar on Myspace.
