Sibirien – “Warszawa/Amsterdam”

Sibirien

In the Autumn Sibirien, or David Björk, released the excellent EP “När jorden blev rund“. This week he presented the follow-up in the shape of the new single “Warszawa/Amsterdam”. The song is about a friend of David’s, who passed away last year. I can hear and feel that it gets more personal in an ambience that shifts between the tensed, frustrated and the melancholic, retrospective in the absence of someone who was once close. The video was directed by Dennis Tkacuk.

Sibirien

Today Sibirien, aka David Björk, is releasing the mini album “När jorden blev rund”. After the beautifully dark single “Eld” in Spring I had some expectations on the album, but he certainly fulfilled them all. Here I’m met by a wonderful balance between the beautiful, soothing and that which tears, worries and rips your heart in two, in both music and lyrics.

He completely master the large, dark, reverbing room and fills it with beautiful, sad pop melodies, accompanied by everything from heavy distorted synths to a lonely piano. It’s a powerful album that should be listened from the beginning to the end. The title track is also released as a single and is about violence that nurture more violence, about how people disregard history when they react to conflicts of today, without questioning or learning from the past, David writes. Here’s the single track plus the grand, finishing “Hål i min hand”.

Humfree Bug Art

Humfree Bug Art – “Hawaii”

One of my favourite bands from last year, Humfree Bug Art, are back with a new single. “Hawaii” is the main attraction,  a song the singer Arvid Jonsson describes as “a gay love song, sung by bearded straight men.”.

Sibirien – “Eld”

Sibirien is a project run by David Björk. In the Autumn he released the debut EP “Snart regnar stormen in” and a couple of weeks ago the new single “Eld”. Here he’s hooked up the large reverbs from the eighties in a fine, melancholic song, which give me a ceratain feeling of being a movie soundtrack.

Raindear – “Grown Ups”

Behind Raindear we find the singer Rebecca Bergcrantz. Earlier this year she released the debut EP “The Game” and now the video to one of the songs on the EP, “Grown Ups”, is also available.

The Jamhouse Riot – “City Lights Out”

The Jamhouse Riot, whom I wrote about in 2012, are announcing a series of three singles. First up is this track, “City Lights Out”, their own mix of hard rock and garage rock, bitwise with vibes of Guns’n’Roses.
